Second half, ND comes out in the zone. AO goes to the middle of the zone. He gets the ball on the first couple of offensive possessions. We can't convert, tailspin follows.

JL would kill that zone from the foul line. It's a lay up for him. Or if he drew a lot of attention, the back line or the arc would open up.

That seems like a valid suggestion. If that is done, then we can't have both AO and AD in the lineup?

I believe one of the announcers may have also mentioned this in one of the past several games.

Wentzel(sp) mentioned it yesterday, it seems obvious to everyone but our own coaching staff. Why we would put a guy who can't shoot, can't pass, has bad hands and generally doesn't show quick reaction skills to reading a defense in that kind of position is beyond me.

You can't have TO in either, because if JL is on the high post and one of AO or AD is down low, the 4 has to be on a wing. So that means 'Scoe.

The lineup worked last year down the stretch with Scoe at the 4 and on the wing against a zone. I have no issues with giving it a shot.

It took until the BET last year for the coaches to put JL in the middle of the zone.

Against teams with small frontcourts, Roscoe or even Giffey should play the 4. They can sit out on the perimeter and shoot open 3's while Lamb mans the foul line and Drummond runs the baseline.

ND had Martin at the 4 who is 6'7 and not very athletic or strong. Giffey probably would have been the best matchup for him anyways. Many other teams have undersized 4's as well and if our bigs are not going to punish other teams for playing small (which they have showed they won't), there is no reason to disadvantage ourselves by playing 4's who can not keep up with their opponent.

Lamb, Roscoe, TO would all be better options than AO or Drummond. One thing for sure, AO and Drummond can't be there together against a zone like the one we saw yesterday. On more than one occasion they went to the exact same spot at the exact same time. Kind of makes them easy to defend . . .

I'm guessing coach was looking for a boone like effort from AO in the middle of the zone. Gone are the days of marcus williams shredding zones effortlessly, Shabazz + Lamb love ball screening a zone but they aint Kemba walker!

TO can rotate out to a wing spot while JL swings in. The high post attack works better anyway when there is not someone constantly there. At least TO and NG are credible threats to shoot at the wing...RS should be as well but hasn't been this year for some unclear reason.

So far TO has looked good in the middle. Has a good jumper and good passing skills. A little weak with ball handling but can keep the defense honest. JL would be a good option especially offensively but I'm not convinced of his passing skills to man the middle.

cuse is coming soon so they need to figure something out.

Have Lamb flash in and out of the zone. Have AO and AD just stay short corner or low block. Both of them. Have them get inside position. That way if the man of the middle of the 2-3 goes at Lamb AO or AD is open.

nope, makes too much sense and JC is too stubborn to make any adjustments.

I would think that RB at the 1G, Bazz at the 2G and JL at the 3G would be interesting at times. We have not got a whole lot from anyone but JL over the last few games- maybe this would help us push the pace and let Bazz flow a little more on the O side of the ball.

I am at a loss when it comes to AO and the rest of the front court- they just need to get mean and play aggressive.

A lot of people have been suggesting this as part of the starting five. Do any of you think JC would be willing to give up the size?

I think that Giffey would be a good choice. He can pass a lot better than Jeremy.

But he can't drive past the first defender and finish the way JL can. I like NG shooting or passing from the foul line, but he doesn't handle a defender coming up on him quickly as well as JL does.

He might be able to live with it if SN was a better rebounder. When Kemba was off the ball last year, he was a very effective rebounder at both ends.

You are right about Shabazz's rebounding. When he doesn't have the ball, he often stands around and just waits to get the ball back.
