With 3 of the #1 seeds and a strong #2 coached by men, this has been sitting out there since the start. Baylor's loss knocks out a top female-coached team.
It shouldn't matter, but this would be a big news story.
As a fan, I just want great coaches, guys like Schaefer, Rueck, and Graves have been a plus for the game. BUT, I can understand that women, especially long-timers, have viewed this as more than just a sport, but also about empowering and providing opportunities for women, both as players and coaches. I suspect there will be some consternation about female influence declining, or that there would be fewer opportunities for women who wanted to become coaches.
In any event, something to keep an eye on. So far 2 of the final 8 have male coaches, and they'll be favored in 3 others.
