Will Randy coach an actual game again?

The response to this question, has turned into a jump ball or a flip of a coin.

There will be more than an adequate reason not to play any type of meaningful spring game. The population to play real opposition in a spring game against an external opponent has frizzled, since just two other schools did not play football this season. Covid will still be raging anyways.

So where do we go from here? Does Randy want this bridge year into retirement to be any kind of measuring stick? What’s the point, when you can sit back, collect a million dollars, add to your State of CT pension and talk about rather than actually do things the right way?

We will be so far behind other programs, who actually got brutally measured in a binary manner (wins/loses) this season. When was the last time you heard about the 5 year plan? Early on it punted responsibility to the future, but it’s an accountability metrics now. So in the interest of our players and after consulting with the leadership council, doesn’t it make sense to cancel another season until vaccine and herd immunity truly set in, with the health interest of our players being truly paramount?

Not sure I would want the Huskies playing Clemson with a new coach, new system, and mostly freshmen. It's gonna be bad enough as it is. So yeah, he finishes his contract and then gracefully exits stage left.

You paying for Randy's buyout and a new hire?
Doesn't the buyout go to zero on Jan. 1? The issue is the new hire. Who is gonna work that cheaply? I think it is more likely that the FCS discussion is going to get raised again after next year.

He didn't need the money to come back here. He has enough money. He wants the program back on stable ground. He isn't quitting and he isn't getting fired. And then there will be a succession plan.

This is the glass half full mindset we are banking on... It's been a horrible 10 years, that are now behind us... let's hope that when this thing gets going on again, there a plenty of folks with chips on their shoulders when the first kickoff comes in '21...Like it or not guys this is what we have to hang our hats on. I think if we come out of the gates like this there's gonna be some pretty shocked folks. The wagons are circled....

You don’t improve by not playing games. Being in the group of 3 in 130 colleges that’s not playing isn’t exactly trending towards stability. We are an outlier.

He is not getting fired. The program is a dumpster fire and he wasn’t fired after another dismal season - it isn’t happening.

The ship is sinking and Randy is going to see it to the bottom.

The lack of effort trying to play the season demonstrates the true commitment to football. In the environment in which the NFL reschedules a game 3 times, being a total no show to competition doesn’t put you on the right side of history.

It's been a horrible 5 years, not 10. Holy cow, are you guys soft. Remember we almost beat Michigan at home in 2014? PP sucked, sure, but we still had a team till Diaco lost to Marshall in a bowl game.

Remember, you guys contribute to the narratives that people read.

You act like this is year 1. Kids have fled the program at an alarming rate, our last two FBS wins were against a 2-10 Tulsa team and UMass and were 2 years apart, and we’re not currently playing football. RE has done anything but stabilize the program and it’s somehow getting worse

Being a Lamont puppet is more important then winning football games to Randy.
Can we agree that Randy figured he’d get an extra year at this job if the season was cancelled. I mean that had to be a factor.

Don't agree chief. Umass got outscored I believe 161 to 12. If we had played and posted anything like that number it would be over for Football . The players that stuck around are working out hard and learning the system much better than they knew it last year. They will be much more competitive next season and there may be some players in the transfer portal that can actually help us. Keep the faith. Go Dawgs!!

Chief if a team plays five games this season with depleted rosters I get the experience factor but how much further along will they be by next Fall? Whatever a team has learned during this modified season, in my opinion, evaporates by next Fall. These kids aren’t even learning how to play under the duress of a real crowd. Intuitively yes, they have a handful of game experience on us. But they will need Spring and Summer camp just as badly as we will

When Fall 21 season kicks off and Uconn is playing Fresno, serious question, do you think anyone (even yourself) could care less what happened last season? Heck I don’t even think the teams that played in 2020 will really care what happened this year.
Each season, at the beginning, brings on new challenges and assuages the pain of the season prior

UConn will also have film on every opponent that they can study at length to prepare for ‘21

Dude. Please. Don't go nelsonmuntz on the football board. The school/market will have a permanent home at the top tier one day.

How can we not grasp the expansion or growth of college athletics has been about markets? Doesn't Rutgers being in the Big Ten tell you something? Don't you think TV execs know UConn would deliver New England much better than BC?

People say UConn is not Connecticut's pro teams. Yes, they are. Getting paid now, too. Collegiate sports has essentially long been professionalized. SMU's death penalty was selective justice.

I believe we will be extremely competitive next year and 6 wins would not be surprising. People acting like the players have not been working out and practicing all season. If we have tried to play we would have gotten 4 games in at most. The benefit of playing 4 games and practicing all season is not that far off.
