I would like to think that Geno will continue to be in the mix for most top recruits regardless of the conference affiliation. And some of the new teams coming into the conference (unless they bail) are in talent rich areas where UConn doesn't regularly play unless it is an OOC game. So that may be a plus.

But in the short term, with the uncertainty about what the conference alignment will ultimately look like, how might this impact recruits decisions?

The Big East didn't have a strong national presence until UConn started to become an elite program. That made all the other teams in the conference better. I have no reason to believe that won't happen in what will evolve into the new conference. But that will take time.

I know Geno will continue to schedule the toughest OOC schedule he possibly can so that the impact of the weaker conference play will be minimized.

It will be an interesting, and somewhat nerve wracking, recruiting season for the next few years.

I don't believe it will hurt UConn as long as they have Geno coaching them. IMO, Kids want to play for him more than they want to play in the Big East or even play for UConn. He will be able to schedule as strong an OOC schedule as he wants to as most of the big time programs want to play UConn. He may need to agree to more home and away deals though.

I believe the answer is yes. No more than two t three years from now, recruiting will be affected negatively. Geno will still get them some top-level recruits, but we'll never know how many he would have gotten if UConn were playing in a real league.

In my view, it's a terrible situation.

Geno is Geno but the bottom line is it can't help over the long run.
