Wichita State Interested in Adding Football?

What I didn't know, before joining Shockernet in 2008, about the prairie states, was how much the wind plays into the baseball game...and how cold it still is in late spring.

Those guys came to Tallahassee in 2008 for a Super...had a good starter. They played a "small ball" game...looked to bunt, steal, move the runners. And they were good at it.

Their fans are passionate.but FBS would be a big step for a program dormant since 1942.

It is hardly cold in Kansas in late spring. Much warmer than here in New England. It is pretty windy generally. That's why it was a little surprising that the Big XII became such a passing oriented football league, after being run dominant for so long.

WSU has a great baseball history. "Since 1980, Wichita State trails only Florida State in total wins and winning percentage."

I rather play Witchita State OOC than Wagner, Maine, etc.

Cold is relative...42 degrees in an April breeze is cold to a Floridian.

Wichita State has made it to a Regional 28 times and a Super Regional 19 times and has had 7 CWS appearances, 4 championship games and one championship.

FSU has 53 appearances...50 in Super Regional...21 times in CWS...3 championship games...o championships.

Wichita State has been more successful percentage wise once they got to a CWS.

And, for a Florida guy...this is insane....

My Dad is from Wichita and I have some cousins and other relatives who went to WSU. The Shockers have a strong following for any team they field. It is pretty windy, hence the big aviation presence in the city.

Wichita State must be in the mood to set a few million dollars a year on fire.

They'd fit right in with the AAC. They have all-time losing records in football against Tulsa, North Texas, Memphis, Cincinnati, New Mexico State (3-8-1!) and Louisville. Not hard to see why they discontinued football.

That's too limiting. A school on Mars or any other planet would be welcomed with open arms by the AAC.

I believe University of Mars is applying for AAC membership, but some of the students have 8 arms, so the QB will have 8 ways of passing.
