Tyler Orlander practically won us the game last year, however this year he was afraid to shoot, when he got the ball open in the middle. He also would try and pass the ball down low instead of taking the jump shot or dribbling and attacking the rim. I think we should have kept lamb in the middle or roscoe

What a ridiculous overstatement, lol. Everytime Lamb would circle around I thought he would park in the middle but he continued out to the perimeter, don't know if it was him or the coaches.

I'll ever understand why we don't use Lamb in the middle of the zone. I know we need him on the perimeter too but mix it up, Lamb almost never misses when he gets in the middle.

Olander made that shot countless times last year. He hasn't been in the rotation enough this year.

He had 58 points all last year and shot 37%. He has also gotten much more playing time this year so I don't think your assertion makes sense.

He is our best fit at the 4 vs. a zone though, which is unfortunate.

I stand corrected. Just feel like he made that shot last year.

I don't think we have anyone that's ideal for that spot in our zone offense. Plus, for anyone who's played basketball, that high-post against a zone is a very, very different animal than just about any other offensive challenge you'll face. And especially kids today, who by and large have blah IQ's and fundamentals, aren't going to excel in that spot.

Roscoe and Olander can't dribble, pass or shoot from that spot. AO and Drummond shouldn't even be a consideration. Lamb in that spot allows Cuse to really pack in the zone since he's not stretching things out on the perimeter. I think our best chance is to leave the middle open for driving purposes and keep two bigs in the short corner if they're not PnR'ing. Throw in an occasional flash from a weak-side guard.

He did make that shot last year & was the difference in that BET win. He seems less aggressive and a little gun-shy this year, probably because JC wasn't around to keep him stable.
Make no mistake, Olander was VERY effective from that spot & thats why JC tried it again today. Different year, different player.
