Never gets mentioned? Nate Miles has been front page news for 4 years even though those same violations are now LEGAL and he NEVER played a game. I find it comical when Cuse fans complain about bad press, especially at ESPN. 99% of fans view us as cheaters yet have no knowledge of the Orange. It makes me sick.

It's simple: because the Syracuse ban happened well before the internet.

When the Miles stuff came out, Yahoo, ESPN, et all were tripping over themselves to make it a front-page story. So, it received a lot more attention as a result.

(Plus, Syracuse in the '90s wasn't nearly the media draw as UConn in the 2000s. Their fans might disagree, but they're idiots.)

+1. I've felt like this forever. The offending HC, Boeheim is still there.

I've always been of the mindset that the level of "hate" a team receives (no matter how bogus or minuscule the offense may be) is in direct correlation to how great of program that school has.

The reason the fans or media seem to let CUSE off the hook, is really bc nobody gives a damn about'em, primarily bc they pose no threat....throw out a dream run in 03 and Cuse's trophy case resembles that of South Florida

When people stop hating, is when we should start worrying as a fan base
In the mean time I choose to bask in it, and shove our 3 NC's down the throats of those salty bitter fans who can't stand that a small state like CT, became a national powerhouse!

Google Newhouse Alumni and see how many are in sports media and then ask that question again.

The reason? Half of ESPN are Syracuse alumni, meaning half of ESPN probably banged Bernie Fine's wife.

I think this is partly a reflection of not only how much bigger ESPN is now than it was in the 90's, it is also a reflection of how much information flow has increased with the proliferation of the internet.
No amount of negative/skewed coverage can change the fact that we have more hardware than 'Cuse does. By a good amount.

Uconn99 and Topdog both hit it on the nail.

Recently, the irreverent but well meaning Gottlieb tried to KO Boeheim but the latter counter-punched by citing his credit card brouhaha at Notre Dame student days. With that, Boeheim was able to stop the blood-letting. Coach Calhoun just ignored Wetzel and the blood-letting was on. At least he foiled the blogger Ken Krasaeke (shut your mouth and come here with facts). Just how do you spell his last name?

Not to apologize for syracuse, but I sure hope no one is talking about UConn's post season ban 15 years from now.
