“No, no. I mean, the way that this year went for me personally and how tough it was on UConn – all of us, the staff, the players, the fans, just everyone that supports us – I mean, as soon as this year was over, your total mindset was like, try to regroup mentally because this year was a lot. And then get locked in on putting together a championship roster and play this season the way that we should have played this past year,” Hurley said.

“So yeah, no, that’s not even something I thought about (or) considered,” he said. “I’m a college coach.”

It is amazing that Hurley looks at last season as so disappointing but that’s what makes him great. Now we all have high standards for our team especially coming off back to back but let’s look at these 11 losses.
1. Memphis by 2 overtime
2.Colorado by 1
3.Dayton by 18
4. Nova by 2 AWAY
5. Creighton by 5
6. Xavier by 4 AWAY
7. SJU by 6
8. Hall by 1 AWAY overtime
9. SJU by 14 away
10. Creighton by 9 BE Tourney
11. National Champion Florida by 2 NCAA
So if we take out (just for fun) the pre and post season tourneys for the regular season we have just 6 losses with 4 of them in the notoriously difficult BE away games.
Teams can go cold and opponents can get hot shooting it out of their minds and there are injuries that can and did have impact.
This coming season we have a ridiculously difficult OOC and several strong BE teams so even though we once again have a Top 10 team we could have 11 losses again. Yup it can happen.
Those NYC St. John’s losses stand out. Hurley does not like Pitino and vice versa and these games with them and the OOC is what he has loaded up for and why he wants to do this and not coach the Knicks in NYC.

This feels like a bigger deal than people are making it. He didn't go to (supposedly) better college jobs two years ago. Now he says he is a college coach and wasn't at all interested in the Knicks, of all teams. He's here for the duration
