If I recall correctly, Kill was on the short list for one of our coaching vacancies but he was dealing with health issues that clouded both his desire to be a head coach and administrators' willingness to hire someone that might not be fit for the demands. Just a recollection though, and completely agree on him being a good option in the past.

In hindsight, if we were smarter a decade ago, we might've been in a better spot with this guy...

It's neither here nor there now, but, just sayin... this guy might've had us in a better spot right now:

"How to win where winning isn't easy according to Jerry Kill":

He is a good coach, but his health was poor around the time UConn looked into hiring him as OC so I think many people were concerned. Look at what happened to him between 2013 and 2018 and you can understand the health concerns.

2013: Suffered an epileptic seizure during a game. Went on medical leave mid season.
2014: coached
2015: retired mid season due to health concerns
2016: did not coach
2017: OC at Rutgers
2018: did not coach

It wasn't if we were smarter, it was if one person was smarter (Medic pointed it out already).

On basically an advisory role, Jerry Kill would have been a tremendous asset to Diaco. Of greater importance, our results over the subsequent slightly more than half dozen years would have had to have been considerably better than what they were.

He is epileptic, having had seizures on sideline in past.

It isnt just his health was bad at the time, as there is no cure, if I recall correctly.

Had Diaco hired literally any good OC he’d probably have gotten a couple more years and would be coaching in the P5 right now
