We have speculated on the starters. Now which 6, 7, 8 or more players will have earned Geno trust for the Big East and NCAA tournaments.
I say Caroline, Azzi, Dorka, Nika, Ice, Aaliyah, Lou, and Aubrey. Those highlighted will be the starters.

So everyone except Amari and Yanna? Jeez...
There is little information being posted on AMARI so it's hard to make a determination on her readiness to help stating what her value would be to help the team. The same with YANNA. I have no problem with SVCBeercats starting five as it could change rapidly with the way GENO coaches. He is not reluctant to pull the plug on anyone he feels is not performing to his standards. These speculations about the starting five is just that; speculations. I will give a more in depth analysis after the TEXAS game. GO HUSKIES!!!

6-8: Ice Ayanna Lou in November
6-8 in January will be Nika Aubrey Ayanna, because Lou will be starting and Aubrey will have recovered her form.

I'm not ready to put the freshmen in the "trusted" category yet but they will both play and most likely will be part of the regular season rotation. If they become trusted they will play in the NCAA's.

UCONN WBB players earning trust for BE and NCAA tournaments before Halloween would be a remarkable accomplishment. This would also mean those sane players have the next 5 months to lose that trust. We couldn’t wait until Thanksgiving to talk about trust for the NCAA tournament?

The top 8 probably includes Ice and Ayanna making this team not have as much depth as people think. I’m hoping one of Ice or Ayanna emerges as this past year’s Caroline and if it’s both ….great!

My only concern is we’re not hearing anything about Amari from Geno. However, they have only had one week of practice. Let’s hope we hear some good news soon.

Can't wait for Nov. 10 to find out. Right now, I'm feeling a little dizzy with kids names spinning in my head.

Nov. 10th won't be an indication of anything. The Northeastern { game?} is a walk over and nothing more than a scrimmage with the disparity of talent. The Texas game on the 14th will give some clarity to the leading question of this thread.

Way, way, way too early to tell.

This is what practices and exhibition games for. Team chemistry needs to be developed. Last year means nothing despite what we fans may believe. The starters will be the 5 who gel and work together. The 5 who can anticipate each others moves with eye contact or a nod of the head. The 5 who can all pass the ball and delivery the ball were it needs to be.

After that, who can sub in and keep that chemistry and flow going. This is no easy task. I don't envy Geno and the decisions he needs to make. Then there are the in game match ups. Those one on ones that can be exploited to our advantage.

What we see in November and December may not be what we see in tourny time.

I think of it this way. The rotation (if healthy) will probably be a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 10. If 8 it, might be because one of Ice and Ayanna has moved significantly ahead of the other one. I hope Geno uses both, but position wise, they could be substitutes for each other, Aaliyah is probably entrenched as the starter at the 4 and Aubrey could justify minutes there as well, so the lesser of Ice or Ayanna could wind up #9 in a rotation of 8.

Because they bring some differences to the table, if Geno is happy with both he can do more strategic substitutions depending on game conditions and have both of them as part of a rotation of 9. I hope that is the case.

As for a rotation of 10 that depends largely on Amari. Is she rotation ready? If so she could take most if not all of the backup C minutes behind Dorka. If not, I presume Ice is likely to be used in that role. Inez figures to be a backup to the backup most of the time and might not be the first option if one of the four guards was out. Aubrey might fill that role particularly if Caroline or Lou was out, but if the missing player was one counted on to play PG, Nika or Azzi, then using Inez could be a better option than playing Caroline or Lou significantly out of position at the point.

In the backcourt we pretty much know what we have, and which 4 players will consume the vast majority of the minutes. But we are not deep there, and any injury can make a big difference. Up front we have way more depth and could probably cover an injury with not too much of a decline in performance, but many of our talented players are untested, Ice, Ayanna and Amari. How the pecking order plays out there is up in the air and could decide not just who is in the rotation, but how many players are in it.

Consistency can help differentiate good players from great players.
And then some players are specialists to create a spark or a big play when its needed.
That's why Geno said that it's going to take a couple of months to figure out how far the team can go.
There's will be opportunity for all of the players to show their consistency and talent.
I expect that there will be a lot of substituting to help players get over their butterflies & settle down.
Since so many players have potential, they'll all need a chance to play.
The ones who make too many mistakes will need to wait for another game to play more.
The easier games will be tests for the tougher games.
Turnovers, missed shots, fouls, bad hands & missed assignments are all signs that improvement is needed & creates opportunities for another player to get PT.
If a hot had is needed to score more inside points then bring in a bench player.
If more rebounds are needed then bring in a bench player.
If more defense is needed then bring in a specialist.
I think that Geno will be making substitutions during games on the fly.
Geno may find that all of his players are trustworthy, some being better shooters, passers, rebounders, defenders.
Then he'll choose which player packages will enter the game as needed.
If everyone puts in their best effort then more players will get rewarded with PT.

I am so ashamed of me! I failed to mention Inez! So sorry for that. I will endeavor to correct that oversight in the future! It was so dumb trying to correct someone else's oversight while making one of my own.

I know we try to steer clear on the BY of 'editing' others' comments, but I do hope we all can get the spelling of our newest player correct before too much longer.

It is Ines, not Inez, and pronounced something like Ee-nesh, although I suspect it'll be Anglicized to Ee-nes. by U.S. media.

2 things are missing from Geno. 1. Praise 2. Damning. If Geno believes a player can be good, bettter, great and isn't doing it; he'll use negative words. If he thinks she is working hard but not there yet, he'll use praise. Since neither is heard---Geno has lost confidence she shall ever meet his goals or she is there.

For DeBerry, I hope she is approaching THERE. Amari, has stiff competition from 4 area's. Yanna, Dorka, Edwards, ICE (when healthy) they have somethings she doesn;t have, yet she has what they don't. Good playing talented height is nice to have.

Replace ICE with Lou-Edwards at different times in different games---Firepower vs Post power.

Just to go on the record, I think the veteran core of the team plus 2 or 3 from out of Lou Ayanna Aubrey Amari Ice can beat all 8 (9) teams on the OOC in Nov-December. Even without any contribution from the freshmen we should roll over all of them. I suspect the early rotation players will be Lou Ayanna Aubrey.

The only real challenge will come from ND, since they return 4 of 5 starters. But can they cover Ebo's slowness and lack of offense? Maya Dodson she's not. And after Ebo, they don't have a big like Dorka or Aaliyah.

Could Maryland be a threat? They're tall at guard, but they have no post player and will have to use Abby Meyers as pg to free up Pinzan for 3s, I suspect. Will Diamond Miller play the 5? Or will they just play 5-out on offense? We could play 4 guards + Aubrey/Ayanna and still dominate on the boards. My guess is they'll play Miller Myers Masonius Pinzan and Sellers, with Briggs off the bench. Good team speed, but not much size. Unless they shoot 75% from 3, they won't have a chance, and I think Nika can shut down Pinzan.

I happened to be looking at a page that spelled "Inez" incorrectly. I shall endeavor to use the correct spelling of Inês from now on.
