Who went to the game?

1. How was the crowd? Looked low at the beginning but then seemed to fill up
2. How were the students? Seemed to be into it, were the sections filled?
   
3. How was the lighting? You can notice the difference on the tv
4. Were they serving Jalenpeno mac and cheese?

1. Very solid for playing Maine. Only the nosebleeds were a little empty but pretty good numbers overall.
2. Very good. Most didn't even leave early. Kids were in midseason form.
3. Personally not a fan of th lighting. Doesn't throw off the game but I'm used to a bright as hell Gampel.

yeah it's really different and is taking me a bit to get used to the lighting but im starting to like it, especially if the crowd is there

I liked the lighting, spotlights need some work on the intros though. Mentioned in another thread but the crowd was great both student sections were full, loud and mid season form before tip. Great environment for a season opener. Also game was called a sellout but there were some empties scattered about, chair back side was more noticeable imo.

Ive noticed they always record the opening well before tipoff. So when the crowd looks low, it really isn't. A minute after the announcers used empty stands as the backdrop, suddenly there were a few empty seats. Hard to believe a few thousand people suddenly appeared in their seats in the space of a minute.

Not to mention right before tipoff, all the beat writers tweeted that it looked close to a sellout in the building.

Definitely very close to a sell out. The students were phenomenal. The lighting will take some time getting used too. I like the idea but it's going to take awhile for it to feel like Gampel again. Only thing I definitely do not like about the new lighting is with it so dark around the top it makes it harder to see the programs achievements listed around the arena. Big Red was in prime form and I believe his seats were ungraded to a more recognizable area. Great opening night.

1. Crowd was great. Seemed to fill up at the last minute possible, as is tradition with UConn fans. A few empties way up high.
2. Students were LOUD. Both student sections on each side were full.
3. I loved the new lighting. I hated how blindingly bright it was before. The lights are dim on the upper sections and it focuses well on the court. I was in the upper section, and felt strangely more relaxed than usual at a Gampel game. I wish we upgraded the lighting years ago.
4. Nope, but they now serve Dairy Bar ice cream.
5. Yes, in all his glory.
