Generally in a non-conference game the road team takes officials from their conference, and I think the conference of the visiting team pays them. Our situation is unique, so I'm not sure if that's the case for us.

Maryland was an ACC crew. The game officials are part of the terms of the contract when it is drafted for OOC games, and 95% of the time the officials will be from the visiting team's conference. We're not gonna attract P4 opponents to come to The Rent if they can't have their conference's officials work the game. AD David Benedict might have some negotiation room when it comes to G5 teams coming to East Hartford, but no way B12, ACC, B1G or SEC teams will come to PAWSARF without their officials.

I thought I read somewhere (last year) that we had a deal with ACC refs for our away games als, but I’m not sure that’s true or the same deal this year. If Maryland was ACC refs then that might stand to be true. We’ll see when we go on the road in November to non-ACC schools.

Have fun getting a contract signed with a P4 school.
I think a good compromise would be to hire at least one neutral ref that works that could be a ”safeguard” against professional misconduct like what happened with Wake Forest.

And no more of this BS stuff were calls again us go to the Conference Refs for a final ruling as the sit in their kingdom, dealing out injustice.

That definitely should stop - we ain’t in their conference - unless they want to share conference revenue with us - make the call on the field - no more tinkering w/ the game!

I had no issues Duke game - they beat us fair/square - not all games are bad but enough to take notice - that’s for sure.
