White Sox hire Robin Ventura as manager

Thought this was a weird hire. No managerial or coaching experience at any level.

Interesting choice. He played 16 seasons, so he knows the game, and he can always get a Zim to sit next to him. I would imagine he's got to be pretty charismatic and a great motivator for this hire to work.

I think he may have some anxiety over walking out to the mound to remove a pitcher.

Exactly my thought. Will he hide in the clubhouse every time they play the Rangers?

Actually and hopefully they have fun with it, though from what I've read Ryan actually loves signing pictures of the pummeling.

He and Ryan get along fine. They both make decent cheese from signing that picture. Think Branca/Thompson. They nearly named Konerko a player-manager!
