The shooting was on a Friday of what was supposed to be a weekend of football and partying. My school had a very successful season and added on an out of town game in New Rochelle for that Saturday. To play a road game outside of Brooklyn was a really big deal back then. As sports editor of the school paper I had to be at the game and in the hours immediately after the shooting no one could find out if the game would be played.
