I think the starters will depend on the opponent in some cases. That along with the offensive plan for the game.  For example, if I'm playing ND, there's just no way I can't see KK either starting or playing a lot of minutes to counter two guards that penetrate with the ease of water. Doesn't have to be a hockey line change, or even permanent, but a necessity. I think while kids want to start, they will buy in to a lot of players getting in the mix this season, starting or not. Me personally, while I wouldn't be looking past the BE schedule I would definitely see it as a huge opportunity to play my best players less and to play the newbies more and acclimate those coming off injury. Play it right and come March, you have more experience, rested players and the reinsertion of highly recruited players that your opponents have not seen in a while...and don't care to see. Great discussion because for the first time in a while...it's not bad news!
