I'm in Westville, New Haven, and she's in West Hartford near Bloomfield border off Mountain Road.

Is GoldBurgers in Newington worth my 48 minutes to her 22?
Is it comfortable enough for a "we don't see each other enough" catch up with someone who just turned 75?

Where else? We've done Maggie McFly's and Wood 'n Tap in the past, as well as the Tibetan place in Middletown.

Maybe it's not about the food . . .

Goldburgers is great but not terribly comfortable for what you’re looking for.

Forbidden City in Middletown is also very good for higher end Asian food, and perfectly comfortable for a nice long lunch.

Though I don't post on BY in high volume, I've read enough of these types of threads to know how to chime in:

--You don't really want to go to lunch; it's overrated...go to breakfast instead.
--You may also want to reconsider if it's really your stepmom that you want to meet for breakfast.
--Dennys > IHOB

Points deducted for no Arby’s or pizza mention.

Not sure what your circumstances are...

If you wanna keep it on the quicker side, goldburgers is a good idea. If not, you could do somewhere like Krust in Middletown or Eli Cannons, or whatever there is in Wallingford. Could be fun to meet up at the lunch spot at Lyman Orchards in Middlefield

Cromwell Diner.
More so than O'Rourke's (which I've never been to)?

Also, just remembered I'll be coming up from Yalesville in Wallingford if that makes any different. Probably not, just makes me closer.

O'Rourke's is my favorite diner, period, but breakfast is where it really excels. Lunch is very good, just less special. Cromwell Diner is more of a classic diner with a ton of choices, all of them done well. Also much larger than O'Rourke's.

Little Rendezvous in Meriden is another option if you want check one of the classic Connecticut, non-New Haven pizza joints off your list.

In Wallingford, I really like Michael's Trattoria for a nice Italian restaurant; and the Eatery or Half Moon Cafe are both solid lunch choices.

Love Westville. Working on a project there.

If you're not enthusiastic about the meeting, make sure you go to a place that has a full bar.
