Article from the Courant.

“Hass has helped me on the court and off the court, that’s definitely like Big Bro,” Nowell said. “I always come to him just because he’s just been through it, as a two-time champion he’s just been through so much and experienced everything that I’m going through.”

Well at least he didn't call Hass old like McNeeley did Karaban. :)

Sounds like what a prototypical UConn PG would say about winning and doing what has to be done to get the W.. Great match for our Program. Looking forward to going to battle in the BE with AN over the next few seasons.

There are a lot of Youtube tapes of games and highlight film for both Nowell and Abrahams and the more I see and hear from these guys the more impressed I am with both of them. For incoming freshmen they are exceptionally poised and locked in. I think if we can get reasonably good performance out of Reed, Samson and maybe Singare at the five we have so much other talent and depth that we are going to have a great season again.

I think by mid-year our rotation of Reed-Samson-Singare(when possible) will evolve as a strength. Not like 23 or 24-But strong enough where we can keep challenging opponents Bigs and play solid two way BB. Think Reed is going to blow people away. Don't sleep on him.

I like these freshmen more than last year's class. Yes I am aware we had Castle last year, but I think Liam will be as good, if not better, than Castle. And Nowell and Abraham will be so nice as complementary pieces. And if my take is wrong is because Stewart is as good as some of you say he is. If that is the case, we may not lose a damn game this year

Castle ended up being a lottery pick. Liam will be good, but I’ll be surprised if he’s at Steph’s level

It’s Newton who the team is really going to miss. He was unbelievably good, so versatile, underrated but always with high production especially in the biggest games. Great passer too.
One advantage last year's guards have/had over this year's class. Is height. Will have to use our speed-tough D-know your role-stay in your lane- and play them well. Different year-different skills/talents.

Newton was All-Conference AAC (a multi-bid league, clear 8th best conference) with multiple years remaining. Maybe 2 years ago he was cheap, but the going rate for that caliber of player is now pretty high.

What’s level up mean? Anything similar to, say, opening the blinds when the sun rises at daybreak? I’m old, forgive me.

“That’s always a thing too,” Hurley said. “When the lights come on, that’s a nice thing to see that a guy can level up his performance.”

Ask Hurley. He's old too. :)

Overall quality may end up being better as all 3 of this lot looks like instant contributors. Last years class sans Steph was largely developmental.

I think our 5 being a strength will fall mainly on the shoulders of Tarris’ upside.

I take it to mean "coming through in the clutch." But the I read that there's no such thing as a clutch anymore.

Another article on Nowell. This one from the New Haven Register.

“I feel like I'm going to be able to help everywhere, just embracing what the coaches are asking for, just doing whatever they're asking for to the best of my ability,” Nowell said. “If that's playing defense and guarding people full court, then that’s what it will be. If it's playmaking, if it's making shots, I’ll just try to make shots .,.. that’s what I’ll be.

“I’ll do whatever our coach is asking for because he's been able to make NBA guards in the short term and in the long term.”

are the Nowell/Abraham/Reed/McNeeley interviews from Friday's media availability posted online? I haven't seen them, just clips from the reporters.

if Nowell can be our starting PG as a soph then we dont need thomas or mullins. we can just get Lewis, Adams or Greer, plus a Big.

2025:
Nowell / Lewis*
Aidan / Adams*
Ball / Ross
Stew / Abraham
Reed / Reibe* / Singare

Maybe clutch as holding tight- when the pressure is on and squeezing you, you push through nonetheless instead of wilting

This is why I am not emotionally involved with the 2025 guards we are recruiting. I think we will be fine with Nowell anchoring the pg position next year. And I think Solo will be a starter. I really do not have a take on Aidan because I have not seen him play yet. But Nowell and Solo would make a winning guard combo. And by the way, how many times do we have to watch our coaching staff get the perfect players in the portal before we trust their judgment? If none of these "5 star" guards choose us, I have no doubt that we will find the perfect 4 star plug and play players to help us get to 4 in a row.
