When does it "get real" for various teams???

Alot of teams are playing or have played cupcakes so far this season..... but when do things get real (potentially) for such teams.

As a Duke fan.... things are about to get REAL (ugly??) this coming Wednesday. :eek::eek::eek::eek: Louisville comes to Durham.
 
Mississippi State plays South Florida tonight. I don't know how real that will be, but it will be more real than the first two games we've played. The rest of our OOC games are cupcakes. We were supposed to do a home and away with South Dakota State that started this year, but I assume it was cancelled due to Covid. No one seems to know what happened with that.

For most it's when conference play starts and for few others, it's when they play a quality non conference team. It's going to be real for Tennessee tomorrow when they play West Virginia.
 
Oregon has Utah Sunday And that will be competitive. But next weekend is at arch rival Oregon State (#17). So yeah that will be real...
 
Pac 12 started conference play on Friday night. I'd say it's real now out here on the West Coast.

This was my first look at Duke and I’m excited to see what Kara and Beth can do with the program. But after a quick look online, their roster is 12 this year and 5 are graduating. (Yes some could return given the extra year) Hoopgurlz shows zero recruits signed for next year. What’s the plan with the roster? Is it too soon to panic?
 
Things get kinda real for the Tarheels tonight over in Winston Salem...... its gonna get REALLY REAL for them Sunday when they travel to Louisville.

Actually its not that many. We have a grad transfer so she will be done after this season (I presume) ... Jade Williams is a Senior.... Jayda Adams is a senior academically. but she missed last season and is out again this season with ACL injuries... she can return next year. Mikayla Boykin is a senior academically, but a redshirt junior ... so she has one more season (at least).

We do have 1 recruit signed for next season... a 3 star guard from VA.
 
..and Duke will have another season of Coach Lawson's system. Considering how poorly they shot from the onset, they looked good defensively to stay in the game for almost 3 quarters. I give kudos to them for finally having a structure and flow, albeit poor shooting. To me, this is a significant improvement over the last 3 years of JPM. :cool:
