Seriously.

Cry that we ran up the middle? What team America doesn't need to practice that or use that?

Cry that the helmets are made for college kids and not fat middle aged, beer swilling guys? Go look at all the pretty picture on pinterest if you have to.

Cry that we "lost" the spring game.

Cry that the season is a disaster before game 1.

Cry that the coach wears the wrong color tie?

Who really gives a crap about the above if we go to a BCS game this year?

Who really gives a crap about the above if we got 2-10?

Isn't football about winning and losing?

sd at his contrarian best. This program is crashing and burning right in front of our eyes and we should stay silent? How could anyone come away from The Rent on Saturday with even a drop of optimism? The entire experience was that depressing.

I'll tell you another thing that was just plain comical, the parking guys are in mid-season form. The guy gave us a bit of grief because we parked too far away from the car next to us. Asked us back up and move over TWO feet. I mean, really.

I think people are even more pessimistic than usual (which is a bunch for CT folk) because we just don't trust GDL to not screw this thing up.

I have a real feeling that every position on offense will see a step in the right direction in production, but if the OL doesn't take a similar, or even bigger step...then it will all be for nothing.

We are not the most talented team in America, but neither are the Patriots....and they always seem to win. They win because their coach is smarter than the other team's coach. We don't have that right now (never have actually, but it seems to be at it's worst now). We have plenty of talent to win 8+ games this year.....but i really think we did last year too. But poor coaching blew it like a $2 whore.

With TJW in the fold now...their is a ray of sunshine that we haven't had in a couple years, but with GDL still commanding the engine of the offense...if he doesn't get the improvement out of the line unit that we need....we are in for a long year.

So, in short...we are crybabies because we hate George.

I keep thinking of the end of Pulp Fiction, when Jules says that he's trying real hard to be the shepherd...

I prefer to be optimistic with TJW in the fold, and I'm trying real hard to stay that way...

But what should be a constant full court positivity press out of the AD and football program ended up in an enormous spring "game" turd. It's tough to watch and tough to swallow. Status quo doesn't ensure our long term survival and success. We desperately need some positivity around this program and it's sorely lacking at the moment.

I'm still going to root, buy new gear, yell my face off during our home games...I hope we'll be an improved team. I hate folks who are knee-jerk negative or complain just because that's what CT does best. But we can't not acknowledge that it could get ugly quickly.

Not gonna keep harping on it though. It is what it is until our record says otherwise.

I not saying be silent.

Just complain about stuff that matters. Like wins and losses.

Not about first play called in a spring scrimage or ties or logo's or uniforms.

If you want to fire PP after this year, if he doesn't win enough, thats a valid opinion.

I might have that opinion myself.

But its going to based on results, not ties.

But it all matters when it comes to building a program and a fanbase. Winning is important, vital even. Doesn't mean you should ignore everything else. Especially the small easy things you can do improve things. I've been a sports fan since I was 6. And none of the teams that meant the most to me ever won squat until I was 39. Yet I was a big fan the entire time. Isn't that what being a fan is?

Wait you think UConn fans want PP fired because of trivial things like what tie he wears? The football team has won consecutive games under his leadership exactly one time and we haven't been to a bowl in 2 seasons.

This IS about wins and losses.

Being a crybaby is an inalienable right afforded to all chat room posters. What fun would it be to have the board be all 'yes men'?

I agree. And if people want to cry about others crying.......have at it.

I can understand both sentiments.

Our program has certainly had a few rough patches. Edsall leaving. A tough transition with Pasqualoni (regardless of where you lay the blame). The APR ban. Conference realignment.

It's tough to stay optimistic.

On the other hand, I hear enough complaining from the jerks I work with and some of the "woe is us the sky is falling" mentality probably isn't helping, even if I understand it.

I do wish people would be a little less fatalistic, though. We haven't been an FBS program for that long and we're going through a tough period, but if we learned anything from UConn legends like Kemba Walker and Jim Calhoun, shouldn't it be "Never say never"?
