I will tell you this much if Geno did leave for USC because UCONN wouldn't match money then the Board of Trustees and influential boosters would have the heads of Manuel and Herbst.
You really think the musical chairs have stopped for Uconn? Or that geno won't be able to keep Uconn as a power as long as he is there?Unfortunately, in UCONN's new reality as a Mid Major in athletics we won't be able to compete with the in the power conferences. If I'm Rutger's and Ohio State I'd be making a run at Geno as well. Our conference tv package pays 1.5 million/yr. The B1G pays 20+ million/year. That being said, I don't think Geno leaves this late in his career. If anything our new crap conference will just speed up his retirement.
With the class of 2012 having 3 more years, Chong for 4 years, a 2014 class that is looking real strongJust saying........... Remember the Golden Rule. He who has the Gold Rules!!!!! Geno and the new facilities should keep UCONN relevant for the time being. But at some point if UCONN cannot get out of this Conference of Misfit Teams then they're going to be in trouble. Who will UCONN's big conference rival be? ND, Rutgers, Louisville, Syracuse, Villinova, St John's......... They're all gone. Temple, Tulane, SMU don't seem all that exciting.
I bet some of the BY ( the ones thats know how to coach better) would be happy if he left.I'm not one of them.

yes and no.Did I seriously read posts suggesting Geno is going anywhere, and that there are people who would be happy if he did?
Seriously?
sounds like you found a new team to root for.Just fantasizing
Geno has had some good success with players from California,
Happy hunting ground for recruits,
An immediate natural rivalry
Press coverage like you can't believe
Major conference (once he shows up)
Nice Weather
Great Chinese food (best in country).
Great Band
Terrif School
yada yadda
He has just built a new house down on the CT River.
Believe it or not a lot of Northeasteners find no appeal at all in SoCal. Many like it but a lot of would just think it awful.
But what if you already had 2 million reasons to stay.I ponder that sam e question in my head every day. The 75 degrees and sunny 300 days out of the year part of San Diego sounds real nice sometimes, but then I think I need the seasonal change that is quintessential New England. However if I had 3million reasons to go I think I would. LOL
