For some of the younger followers here, it's important to recall that Syracuse played at a national level that UCONN did not in either hoops and, of course, football not all that long ago.
Syracuse has had a few "WTF how the hell did this happen" moments. The first was JC bringing the basketball program to national prominence. They second was UCONN taking the football program to the next level. It was only several years ago that we had a steady stream of visitors "educating" our board about the decade or so it would take before UCONN was competitive with the Orange on the gridiron. Beating the snot out of them at the Carrier Dome was priceless.
Now, they have conference affiliation with which to point, and clearly we would rather be in the ACC. But, here's the thing, at some point you have to win, or you start to look a lot like Wash. State, BC and Minnesota, etc.
But, Jim Brown did take a dump there about half a century ago, so they do have that......
