I've been thinking towards the Alumni game, which is a Great event to meet players, get pics, Autos etc. What piece in your collection is your Favorite?

- met Ali in 96', got to shake hands, and get an 8x10 signed.

- held the 2011 UConn National Championship Trophy, in Storrs with a pic

#1 Ditto, though I didn't meet Ali. My father met Dundee who sent him an autographed B&W photo of Ali signed and made out to me. Easily #1 for the Ali part, personalized and my father got it for me.
#2 SI issue from 1990 with Gwynn celebrating Big East Championship, got signed by Johnny 15yrs later (speaking of Alumni game, that was at the first) and I'm kind of in the SI photo.

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but what's your connection with the team?

I have alot of Husky memorabilia that I'm really proud of. I've had pictures taken with Coach and alot of the players including Rip, Emeka (which he later signed), Caron, Donyell, Ollie and Kemba. I've got a signed, personalized copy of Coach's book and a basketball signed by all the players on the '11 championship team. I've got a signed jerseys for Rip and Caron. I've also got ticket stubs from all 3 national championships and videos of the team cutting down the nets after each championship game.

My two most prized non-husky items of memorabilia are a picture with Michael Jordan and a Cal Ripken Jr signed baseball.

Anyone else?

Hehehe, I've got one of those too.....the ones that were zip tied to light poles or flag poles just outside the entrance to the arena.

Not a stupid question. No connection at all. I and the other members of the pep band were lucky enough to each get a piece of the net, and Lew Perkins decided that the band and cheerleaders should get rings. Kind of odd, but I wasn't complaining.

Is it bad that when I saw "Ali" in my mind I read it as "Ollie" lol.

Is it even worse that I'd rather meet Kevin Ollie than Muhammad Ali too?

Cheerleaders can get rings at the pro level, too.

I'm not sentimental and do not care a bit for sports' collectibles.

My collection, such as it is...

1) A baseball signed by Mariano Rivera and Reggie Jackson.
2) Autographed picture of Reggie Jackson - inscription made out to my eight-year old daughter who still has no idea who he is.
3) A mini-basketball signed by Lew Perkins and Jim Boeheim - a friend here got it for me and both are inscribed to "Fishy".

Not bad, probably just means you are < 40. In terms of worse I'd say no because meeting Ali these days would be a bit of a buzzkill cuz you'd end up with firsthand memory of how what he gave to his sport and entertaining robbed him of his faculties.

I'd imagine that in the pros, just about every employee gets something. I'd ask a friend of mine who works for the Orlando magic, but . . .

I don't know why but I kind of find that cool... and funny.

I think my favorite is an autographed Kemba picture, maybe pictures of the kids with him.

Ditto. My 1999 Champ ring is my favorite of all time. I even wear it out to cheer me up when I am in a bad mood or know I will be seeing some Dookies.

Would you 1999 ring owners please be able to post pictures of the ring? Just leave your name out, of course.

I have 2 favorites.

I have a UCONN banner signed by a dozen or so former greats (Kemba, Emeka, Rip, Coach, etc).

The other is a Detroit Tigers dynasty banner with 30 former players that were on their various championship teams. I am from Michigan so this one is a big one for me.

Butchy: Mine is in a safe deposit box and I've been meaning to take it out for a while. I'll do it this weekend and take a picture. If you don't see it on Monday message me.

Not exactly memorabilia, but I have one of the few Toby Kimball hoops cards from his pro days probably left in existence.

Probably this Rudy Gay jersey that he signed this past February. Some friends and I (fellow UConn alum) went up for the Syracuse game at Gampel, when he was being inducted into the Huskies of Honor. We were having some beers beforehand at the Nathan Hale Inn bar when Rudy walked in with his family. I just happened to be wearing this jersey, which he signed. He was a really cool guy and even took some pictures with us.

I can try and take a pic with my iphone and post it soon. The 1999 ring has a huge "1" on the front in diamonds and a blue background.
