We are now four days away from the first game, and still no word from SNY as to how to sign up for their streaming service. Does anyone else find this stupid? Makes you wonder if they really want to provide this service. If they don't, they simply have to make it impossible to sign up and the service will die for lack of support.

There's just no excuse for not at least explaining what is causing the delay and when we might be able to sign up, assuming they are going to keep their promise and offer the service again this year.

According to Pat McKenna a couple of days ago they're still in contract discussion with ESPN, the conference and UConn about the streaming. He said not to worry there will be streaming this year. However, I agree there is no excuse for all parties to have this resolved by now.

Except that they are all trying leverage each other for the best deal everything on satellite and cable seems to be done at the last second in order to create pressure, discomfort, and maximum $.

I'm just thankful I got SNY on ATT Uverse. For an extra $7 per month for the premium sports package, I get to see all the UCONN Woman's games as well as the men's games that are televised there as well. I can't imagine the on line streaming is a better deal...

I check every day and now, with the Saturday kick off it is truly ludicrous. Bad business and showing utter distain for the fan, although this latter point is hardly a surprise for this industry.

The same great tactic that seems to work so well for Congress :p

I emailed their customer service to ask about, maybe if we can send them some more emails/call them, they might make it a priority! Or maybe I am being naive..

This is certainly a bummer but compared to Time Warner having CBS network yanked from their service for 6 weeks it is small potatoes - TW lost something like 300,000 subscribers during that fees battle. And we get this stuff in season with a few road games and trying to negotiate with other sports networks like Big10 for rights to broadcast locally - happened with CPTV and happens with SNY - but SNY being a more competitive player in the marketplace makes the negotiations more difficult I would imagine.

I'm glad I live in SNY country, but it's still not fair to the rest of you, and kinda disconcerting to the rabid UConn fan.

Neat, Eric...For a few bucks a month you can also get SNY on Direct TV...why choose streaming over this, if such is a problem?

You got that right. I have just assumed we will see all the games. Now, not so much.

Here in the Chicago suburbs, I pay Comcast an extra $9.95 per month for what
they describe as their "Sports Entertainment Package." I ordered it several years
ago, just so I could get The Tennis Channel. And then, last year, lo and behold,
I found SNY on Comcast Channel 420, included at no additional cost!

Given what I experienced from their customer service last year, I'd say naive is about right.

I live in Seattle and have been wondering (worrying) about SNY coverage as well. I just found this on Carl A's blog (http://snyuconn.com/category/uconn-2/womens-basketball/) that the issue has been that "...individual schools no longer control their own local women’s basketball broadcast rights. The TV rights for all schools in The American have been acquired by ESPN, in a rights arrangement similar to that of many conferences across the country."

It looks like if you live outside of the SNY footprint the 17 SNY games will all be available on ESPN3 (Watch ESPN).

Check out the SNY broadcasting site. Guess what? UConn and the AAC have basically sold out UConn Women Basketball fans who cannot get SNY cable broadcasts of the games. At least that's how it looks now. The SNY site explains that UConn does not control tv broadcasts, not as it did in the heady days of CPTV. No, those rights belong to the AAC, which sold the games not broadcast by CBS, etc-- all of them-- to ESPN. According to SNY, the games it was ticketed to broadcast and stream will be owned by ESPN and will be streamed via ESPN3, whose streaming video quality has been vastly inferior to SNY's. Further, checking this Saturday's game with Hartford, which was to be streamed by SNY, it does not appear on the ESPN3 schedule. A temporary omission? I wish I could believe it so. Gooodbye local control; welcome to big business, corporate sports.

Now we know. The SNY games will no longer be streamed by SNY. We're told that the games will be available on ESPN3 (inferior quality) except in the SNY footprint. Saturday's game against Hartford is not currently listed part of the ESPN3 schedule for Saturday. Here are the relevant portions of the memo to customers appearing in Carl's blog:

We want to inform you of changes related to the televised games and the streaming service for the coming season and going forward. Through the American Athletic Conference’s new television agreement, individual schools no longer control their own local women’s basketball broadcast rights. The TV rights for all schools in The American have been acquired by ESPN, in a rights arrangement similar to that of many conferences across the country.

Outside SNY’s “footprint”, these 17 games will now be streamed on ESPN3, an ESPN digital network. ESPN3 is available at no extra charge for those who have a high-speed internet connection or video subscription from an affiliated ESPN service provider that supports ESPN3 content. ESPN3 can be viewed on home computers, smartphones, and tablets. Go to WatchESPN.com for more information.

However, within SNY’s “footprint,” UConn games will not be available online in order to protect the exclusivity of SNY’s television broadcasts.

I just double-checked the Comcast cable schedule for SNY on channel 420,
for Saturday and confirmed that the UCONN/Hartford Women's Basketball
game is still scheduled for 3-5 pm Chicago time.

I just upgraded Direct TV to getting SNY but when I check the guide for the time of Saturday's game it is blank. It shows the pre game show but starting at 4pm it is blank so I don't know what's up with that.
