Roscoe was a big key last year. At this point, I want him in there.

He has been tentative on the court. His handle hasn't improve nor his jumper. Last year he was a defensive stopper, rebounder and tough guy. So far he has been none of that.

I'm assuming Calhoun is sending a message

Exactly right. I think Roscoe has felt slighted by Calhoun by starting Daniels since the first game and his confidence has taken a shot. Roscoe was huge for us last year and I believe he needs to be in the starting lineup for us to have any chance of repeating as national champs. Our big guys have taken a confidence hit because of our guards particularly Napier not giving the ball to the bigs in good position, and not getting them involved more often. Also our perimiter defense with our two little guards and Lamb has not been good letting the opposing team's drivers to wreak havoc in the middle and y getting our big guys in trouble. A leader is needed and toughness, grit, and defense. Napier is not a leader and is a guy who plays like a 2 guard not like a point guard.

Roscoe and Alex have felt disrespected I believe by Calhoun by not playing them enough and starting other guys in their place, and their confidence has taken a hit.Napier for me is a sixth man and not a leader or a starter. Boatright should assume that responsibility as I believe the team feels more connected with him, he is a leader type with an infectious personality, and who can peentrate at will and get shooters open on the wings, or fed our big guys in the post. Roscoe needs to be starting and I don't care what offense he brings or doesnt bring. He needs to know he is the guy and then he will fight for you, defend, and rebound for you like we saw last year which he does better than almost any guy in the country.

1: Boatright 2: Lamb 3: Giffey/Daniels 4.) Roscoe 5.) Drummond
Bench: Napier, Oriakhi, Olander

We need a team that is quick and can run up tempo offense. Shabazz holds the ball too much and slows own the game making us play too much half court offense which is not our strength. This is no disrespect to Napier but my honest basketball opinion on what needs to change in order for us to reach our full potential.

While I appreciate your post I do not think being disrespected plays much of a role at this level. If you can not handle being benched when you re not playing well you can not handle what is asked of you when you are on the floor.

That in itself could be part of the problem with a few of our guys- mental toughness.

Coaches like JC do not pander to the whims of 19 year olds unless it helps them or the team. So far starting guys has done nothing and with the new talent JC has lots of options to experiment with - now that we have run throug most of those combos to no avail we might see him stick with a starting rotation. That'might make some of the gys feel better and other worse.

I don't sense Roscoe has been disrespected or is upset. I think he has played very hard when out there. I think they are trying new things with Giffey and Daniels, even Olander.

All I'm saying, I want Roscoe in there over Giffey, Daniels and Olander.
