Everything. And he's barely mentioned.

"I just wanted Tyler to go to work down there," Ollie said. "I know what he can do on the offensive end. It was a matchup where he could get deep post-up position and we went to a couple of our favorite plays. Shabazz and my coaching staff did a good job of recognizing it. He made some plays. He made some plays on the pick-and-roll, too.

He's an extension of the coach on the floor. A real floor general.

It says a lot about the coach and the floor general. I'm sure SN still misses JC, but the transition has been a good one for SN. I'm not excluding the team, it's just this thread is about two people.

Early in the season, people and KO had scratched their heads (some posters were more critical) why SN didn't try to take over earlier in the game. He had that series of games in which he hardly scored in the first half.

Some posters correctly wrote SN wanted to get his team involved in plays. His deference was orchestrated. And it has payed off. SN was already a developed player. He was the only one starting the season for UConn. I would say that UConn's progression, far more rapid than even the most optimistic of us could have imagined, had some benefit from this approach. As fans we have both KO and SN to be thankful about.

bazz - one of my all-time favorites
Shabazz will be a "one namer" a la, Ray, Rip, Kemba, Emeka, Ben, etc. The kid is gonna be a legend. From those 2 FT's against UK in the final 4 to who knows what next year. We know one thing, he has a HUGE heart and a pair of brass balls. He's going to do something special before his time is done.

I mentioned this on another post.....Lets not downplay what Shabazz means to the program, not just this team on the floor. He is a true glue guy, a guy that I feel when we look back on this black cloud of apr/loss of scholarship/2012-13mess any uconn fan will recognize his commitment, his loyalty, and his dedication not only helped this current team overachieve, but he was also a key component of bridging our future to look a lot like our past and having this whole situation be a small hiccup. Shabazz is a true leader, on and off the basketball court.

Great post Djct - never thought about it that way!!!!! Wow!

Remember how amazing Shabazz' + point differential was when he was a frosh - it was insane when he was in the game. So many steals too. He was a beast!!!

I agree. In many ways he will be KO's Chris Smith even though JC recruited SN and he is a junior. He's that important in all the ways you point it out.

I don't want this to some corny or hokey or whatever, but people really need to start taking notice that we're watching one of the all time great huskies with this one. He has a chance to finish in the top 10 in scoring and not to get ahead of ourselves but have bookend national titles.
