Top 6 things I want to see the most tonight, feel free to substitute heart for anything in red. Time for this team to put their $ where there mouth is, have they bought in?

  • A order of magnitude more physical Tyler Olander. Anything to convince me he can guard Big East 5’s. I hope he’s put on 20 lbs of muscle and looks like a beast.
  • Omar looking like he’s Big East Ready.
  • Chemistry between Boat and Bazz. I’d like to see them two man game all night taking turns breaking down D off the dribble and draining 3s.
  • 40 min of hustle defense lead by balls out RJ Evans minutes when he sees the floor. I might even be able to get behind a dukie floor slap if it happens. Eh, maybe not a floor slap.
  • Pts from the stretch 4. Leon or Deandre, don’t care which. Both! Just want to see confidence and a sweet stroke.
  • Aggression on the glass, especially from the backcourt.
D

I'm most interested in seeing Deandre and Olander. But I believe that we'll find out much more from the Michigan State game next week than we will from either of these scrimmages.

i want fight... as long as this team competes for the entire game good things will come... on another note i really want to see omar and see tyler, giff and dd's improvements

That's what I don't want to see. I want to see as many trips from end to end without a dribble as possible.

Bazz stays with his man and fights through picks and gets 5 rebounds. TO plays like he is playing rather than thinking and then playing. Boat makes mid range shots and makes defense take it away. DD looks to make plays rather than giving up ball to guards. Calhoun makes defense guard him and looks like could be Denham Brown (when not hurt). Big guys pass/catch/pick/boxout. Team looks like they want to play 2.

Transition, transition, transition. An energetic team looking to turn every opportunity -- be it steal, rebound, turnover or even made basket -- into easy offense at the other end. And playing with the passion and energy KO has attempted to instill from the start.

I'm not sure any of us got what we wanted. Certainly not 8893.

Based on what I saw:
Olander-marginal improvement
Omar Calhoun-Yes
Bazz-Boat chemistry-not really
40 minutes of hustle-again, not really though kudos to Evans for playing aggressively and being a bit of a spark
Pts from the 4 spot-nothing to rely on for sure. Two meh players at that slot.
Aggression on the glass-not really. We out rebounded a D2 team whose biggest guy was like 6-4. that will be a huge issue.

Only disagreement is Olander's improvement, I think some of what we saw indicates its more than marginal. That drop step baby left hook and his range appears to have increased. Defensively he was able to body up pretty good in the post though a couple times his man went right around him. Time will tell.

Fair enough on Olander. I thought he didn't improve much defensively. His offense was improved as it has each season he's been here. My saying marginal improvement is not accurate, but I wouldn't call it an order of magnitude improvement either. Probably it is safe to say he is better than last year, though it is an open question as to how much at this point.
