It's hard to chalk up his bad first half to pouting when he routinely defers in the first half and takes over in the second. I don't think it was an attitude problem - St. Johns clearly gameplanned around stopping him and Boatright, and he took what the defense gave him (which was a lot of open looks for Omar and Deandre).

What was clear was that Welsh is a joke and has no clue about what is going on in front of him. I'm amazed that he has a job calling games. Countless times last night his statements and observations were just dead wrong and often the opposite of what just happened on the court.

My favorite was the "teaching moment" as he described it. Apparently he thought Lavin was telling Sampson that his foul up the floor was ill-advised and his team would have been much better off if he could have resisted delivering a hip check up the floor, it would just have been the single flagrant-1 on Wolf that was called.

I really hope we get Dickey Simpkins next game instead.
