That Pat Summit was the best women's basketball coach of all time?

Or the best woman basketball coach of all time?

Hmm.......

I think he said "best women's basketball coach" of all time...but it was hard to tell

Whatever, it was wonderful to acknowledge Pat.

"The fact that I tied Pat Summitt's record puts you in the category of the greatest women's basketball coach that ever lived," Auriemma said. "I'm just thrilled for our seniors. This team accomplished an amazing feat this last month."

ESPN just played it - he said "greatest woman's basketball coach"

So clearly, what he meant, is that Pat was the best at one-on-one instruction.

Pat sent a very complimentary message as well.

In the press conference Geno was remarkably subdued and gracious as were Stewie and Kelly.

That congratulatory message from Pat that ESPN put on screen within seconds of the final buzzer was just weird. A canned message? At least let it seem like it was sent in in real time.

Sshhhhh... Don't tell the orange fans that. Many seemed resigned to Geno tying Pat, but still refer to him as a cheat and classless. Unreal.

Still, Geno was comported (had to borrower word from Doris) and very gracious. When they presented the trophy, he made sure to compliment Jeff and L'ville on one of the greatest runs in NCAA history.

a sign of relief... long season, lots of practice and nagging injuries

Uh....I was joking. I know what he said.

Oh we'll, I thought it was funny.

Give Pat a break none of us know anything about her progression since she's been out of the spotlight.

He got caught up in the emotions of the moment.

I want to hear what he has to say next year when we take #9. And won't it be ironic to do it in the state of Tennessee.

Ice...I have no issue with the message. Just the instant showing of it giving it a canned feeling. They should have waited about 10 minutes and made it look like it was sent in live.

That I can understand. What about ESPN isn't canned.

Yes - I thought it was not handled well by ESPN as it was too 'immediate'. But it was a gracious message and Geno's was as well. I actually really liked the shout out to Louisville on the awards platform as I thought it was very appropriate. They had a great run (historic) and had the misfortune to find another BE team waiting in the final. I think either ND or Uconn would have won because they knew Louisville so well that they couldn't be 'surprised' by whatever schemes Jeff drew up.

Yes it was a bit too quick.
Then again, she had the entire second half to work on it. :)

(yes, I'm sure she wrote it before the game, kind of like how reporters write obits before someone dies so they're ready when it happens)

"Comported" huh, Eric. I have a vision of Geno, arms around his knees, sitting in a sherbert dish drizzled with sugar sauce! :)
