This quote appears on the UCONN official website regarding Kansas St. last night. Most of you must have noticed it.
"Even when Kansas State did something right, it went wrong. Twice the Wildcats had steals at midcourt that would have led to easy layups, but UConn was whistled for fouls. Both times Kansas State took the ball out on the side and was unable to convert the turnovers into baskets."
Basketball could be improved if the rules could be changed allowing the officials to call a delayed foul exactly as in hockey. In both of the instances above a foul called on one team worked to the disadvantage of the other team. The referee should be allowed to raise his/her hand indicating that a foul will be called when the fouling team regains possession if he/she deems it appropriate. The play is allowed to continue, and if the fouled team scores the foul is could be waived off or called then.
It's not right that a foul should work to the advantage of the fouling team. Last night Kansas St. probably lost four points because of this.
