Monarch: Legacy of Monsters I stumbled onto this on Apple and figured I would give it a shot because Kurt Russell stars in it. I give it."meh". It's not bad, but it's not particularly good either. It starts out as the story of a girl with abandonment issues who goes to Japan to see if she can find out anything about her missing father. It turns out that the father had a double life and a second family in Japan, which seems logistically challenging, but apparently he "traveled a lot". Ultimately, she connects with two other thoroughly uninteresting characters, one of whom is her newly discovered half brother. They pursue the mystery of her missing father only to discover that he was part of a government organization hunting Godzilla in particular and Godzilla like monsters. That gives the showrunners an excuse to throw in Godzilla CGI every few episode episodes. Kurt Russell is the former founder of Monarch, along with the girl's grandmother. It is possible that he may be her actual grandfather, but they haven't revealed that yet. Apparently, Russell gave up control of the organization because he wanted to protect/be with the grandmother and the organization turned evil... maybe. It's not bad, it's just that the three theoretically lead characters have only one trait, other than generic blandness, in that they each take turns being whiny. Cumulatively, it's enough that I'm sticking with it for the time being, but nothing great.
