The focal character is Dolours Price, played by Lola Petticrew in the past and Maxine Peake at the time of interviews Dolours gave leading to the book and this series. Dolours and her sister Marian (Hazel Doupe), also a key character, were really the first active field “soldiers” for the Provisional IRA. The other main players are IRA leaders Brendan “Dark” Hughes and Gerry Adams (who disputes ever having that role). Just a really, really well made and directed show. Gripping.
