BE COY? if this topic has come up I apologize....I just couldnt quite wade thru all the
threads post-Syracuse.

The sanctions will annoy some coaches to the extent that they may not vote for him...imo.
On the other hand he seems to be genuinely liked and respected by his peers and at least at this point
he should win it in a walk.

50-50 IMHO. If KO coached another BE team he would be a lock for COY.

Does Mike DeCourcy get a vote? Guy had us below DePaul preseason.
Still have a hard time getting over that one.

I think he should be on the short list for COY, especially if it is awarded on reg season performance

Or national COY. he has to be on the very short list for that award as well.

I don't think he's on anyone's list for national COY. Seth Davis ranked his top 20 coach of the year candidates today and he wasn't one of them. I think if the season ended today the no-brainer choice for COY is Larranaga.

Yet Izzo n JB are on his 20 list both who lost to KO. Go figure. I asked him, no response yet. No contract, follow a legend, no post season, early entries to NBA, defections, and in the hunt to win regular BE season. Who's better?

Who's better, Izzo or Ollie? Because of one game? That's absurd. Boeheim and Izzo also happen to coach teams ranked in the top 10. Guys who win national coaching honors typically do. I mean, I could not be more excited about the beginning of the Kevin Ollie era but some of you need to slow down with some of this stuff.

Being a COY isn't about winning with highly talented teams and doing what's expected of you... It's about overcoming obstacles, exceeding expectations and over achieving with a "middle to end of the pack" Big East team... Who's endured more of an uphill battle from day 1 at the beginning of this year? Transfers, recruiting losses, NO post season in any form... What does he have to work with to motivate his players? This guy coins the term "more with less"... I can't think of anyone who deserves that honor more than Ollie.

Exactly. Otherwise JC should have had a bunch more BE and national COY.

Sadly this year more than ever the voting will be political. There is just too much animosity over the CR and UConn is outside looking in with all the factions. Otherwise COY would be between Buzz and Kevin.

That's a very nice sentiment, and I don't disagree with you in theory, but what I'm saying is look at the guys who actually win the award.
