What’s going on with our TV deal?

It’s a small, nominal increase. Like 10%
Better than nothing I guess lol

But still, if the ratings are good enough for CBS sports to exercise the option, we should have stuck a 50% kicker in there

It also makes them more likely to take the option, though. It's not really a bad move for the short term

A 10% raise is meaningless. Until an increase in money would be material to the athletic department, the exposure is much more meaningful. Wherever cutting the chord goes int he next decade, at the moment being on a cable station, even a lower tier one like CBSSN, is light years better for the program than being stashed on ESPN plus (or whatever the internet only games are called these days).

Keeping UConn on linear TV and therefore viewership as high as possible is certainly valuable in a time of conference realignment. I’m sure it’s also valuable for recruiting to have our games nationally broadcast.

That said.

The fact that we have two more years on this deal is beginning to hurt my soul. Ain’t no way the next two options aren’t picked up at these prices. CBS is going to make a killing.

That is a p4 problem, to borrow a phrase. We want to be seen.

They have the most, but Hulu is the clear number two service with nearly twice as much as the next closest provider.

YouTube TV has the most at 6.5 million, with Hulu + Live TV lagging slightly behind at 4.6 million subscribers.

If Hulu got the NFL package, I'd probably drop YouTubeTV and move over - all of my other subs (Disney+/HBO/Showtime/etc are on my Hulu).
