and he just ran for a 75 yard touchdown. He is their best playmaker so they decided to just hand him the ball.

Now my question is why hasn't UCONN tried the same thing with Nick Williams, UCONN's best playmaker? Just try it, what is the problem with trying something different.

All of a sudden Tavon Austin is the best running back in the country. Unstoppable.

We did that, it was called the "wildcat." It wasn't popular here.

Of course, the handoffs to Williams took like eight seconds to develop.

WVU has an offensive line that can block. UConn's line struggles to block for Lyle McCombs, or Scott McCummings, let alone Nick Williams. I like Williams in the role he has, athlete/WR and kick returner.

There is talent at running back, it is just being under-utilized and I don't think Nick Williams is the fix, IMHO.

Nick Williams is good in open space or with a head of steam, and reads blockers well downfield...but i don't neccessarily think he's got RB like acceleration...

You might be right, but it would have been nice to find out, no? Personally I think Nick has plenty of acceleration.

After yesterday's results the WVU coaching staff must be kicking themselves for not using Austin as a RB sooner. In his first game as a running back he broke all kinds of records with Marshall Faulk like flair. Oh what might have been.

I think coaches and fans have grossly underestimated Nick's athletic ability. How many times must he run past everyone, breaking tackles and ankles along the way before we call Nick a great athlete.

I'm not saying Nick is not great - him and Larry Taylor are pretty much the same player - I'm just saying Tavon Austin is just that much better.

Wow... How's this for coincidence:“@NHRJimFuller: Former UConn star Larry Taylor had 69 return yards to help Toronto reach Grey Cup final”

I agree, Nick has great acceleration, plus, he wouldn't be dancing around like McCombs. Nick would be hitting the wholes McCombs miss, and break tackles! I think its worth a shot, but it won't happen.
