I'm ecstatic for Katie Lou Conn after last evening's game in Greenville. I think we're all pulling for her, and she's making plays! Her shooting seems to be improving, as are her dribble drives, court vision, defense, passing, and basically anything that goes towards being a dangerous basketball player. It's rare that Uconn has a nice, shiny new toy, as defined as a #1 overall high school recruit, and Geno will pull that toy out of the box early in the season. However, Geno pulled Lou out for relatively early use. It's clear he trusts her and must be pulling for her too. Last night in particular, KLS was fantastic. It was a treat to behold. Now, the demanding part of me insists on seeing her put up her statline every game, not irregularly.

In conclusion, can I get a:

Lou Conn..Husky
Lou Conn...Husky
Lou Conn...Husky
Husky...Lou Conn...WOOF!!!

I agree. I find myself watching her on defense all this year, seeing how she is progressing and then missing something great that Stewie does! Thank goodness for DVR's

We are witnessing again, the evolution of a very talented freshman into a very skilled, and for the opposition, deadly player.

Lou has improved so much that is way ahead our expect.
Go LouConn ~~~

WOOF!!!

And how great is it that she's getting to spend a full year playing alongside Stewie. What a great role model and mentor.

Katie Lou is really beginning to look comfortable out there. It will be really exciting to watch as she expands her game from beyond the arc to the inside. She really has the potential to be the complete package.

Yup, LouConn was impressive against ECU. My favorite play was her on the receiving and layup end of MoJet's incredible no-look, two handed facing-away-from-the basket backward overhead pass on a Stewie length-of-the-court forward pass. That was one for the ages.

As I've said before KLS's defense has improved dramatically over the year. Evidenced by Geno's willingness to leave her in there. I thought he pulled her not because of her play, but in order to see the bench play. Who's play I thought was spotty at best. KLS's shot was on and I thought leaving her in so she could score 40 was unnecessary. Occasionally she is either out of defensive position or allows quicker forwards to beat her off the dribble. Offensively I really enjoy seeing her move up or step around a screen and shoot a 2. She's so smooth. Short range jumpers seem like layups to her. The guards still ignore her when she posts, even during mismatches. I would love to see her take advantage of those. She's beginning to show a little feistiness, especially on loose balls and going through screens. Under the boards I don't think she'll ever be Jamelle Elliot, but she will improve there as well. Love this girl. Now if we can see such improve from 'Pheese and Nat during the rest of the year...

Love this Lou Conn business! You might want to add to your list of commendables that, on break-aways, LC is almost always right there with Mo or whomever. She runs the court really, really well--a gazelle, and her passing is peerless. I LOVE LOU C.

I also loved the big smile on her face as she ran up court after the play. I would have liked to see the reaction of MO and the rest of the team, including the bench.

At one point in the ECU game, Lou was at the FT line, and she was panting heavily. It wasn't because she isn't in shape. It was because she had been busting it on defense. A very good sign. She can play this game, methinks.

I focus on her defense too. Never thought that would happen so soon after Stokes left but Samuelson is fun to watch on defense.....quick feet, very disruptive.

She's also a very good passer and can get up and down the court pretty fast.

Other than Breanna being an inch taller, Katie Lou has similar skills. No, I'm not saying she's going to be the next Breanna. She's going to be the one and only Katie Lou.
