What perks does a preferred walk on get that a plain walk on doesn't?

I think it just means, they don't have to attend a walk-on tryout? But would suggest there are no other "perks".

Preferred walk-ons are guaranteed a roster spot, are part of all the pre-season camps and can report early with all the scholly players, they also have full access to workout programs and facilities. They are essentially treated like a scholly player is all aspects other than financial aid.
