Hope you are right about Hemingway & Nwokeji. We need at least one of these two to be servicable on our depth chart.

Nothing coming out of the coaching staff leads me to believes CC is out of the mix as we head into Spring ball. For sure he's #2 going in but seems to have gotten their attention. Hopefully CW has gotten a little bigger/stronger too.

I'm just not buying that what is listed at the site as them being in the low 260's in weight.. Their redshirt sophmores now.. They weighed that when they got here... Gotta be bigger now... If not how can u see them being solid contributors at the point of attack on offense in live games?

Some kids haven't been updated yet (i.e. Hemingway & Nwokeji) still showing their same weights ( a tad over 260lbs each... at OT.. yeah, right)...

Cochran is listed at 230lbs now.. holy crap.. built like a tank...

I'm not buying the weights either.

It's been a bone of contention that Uconn chooses to consistently have bogus numbers on the roster and charts. I'd rather they not be listed at all than look like a bunch of yahoos who can't update and post a simple spreadsheet.

If it's correct, there's no way Cochran being 230 lbs can be a good thing.

He's not 230, just look at the tape from practice. He got bigger after the injury and he is back in shape.

Did Fishy tell HFD to zip it? No way he doesn't post on this thread complaining.

If he's on break.........it's gotta be killing him.

No it can't be good. I Sit right behind the Uconn bench and I was surprised at the width ot the Kid's Butt. Looked more like a linebacker at the Cinci game. After Coach PP said he was in better shape I didn't expect to see 230Lbs maybe 210. Not good if this is real.

You can be a hefty quarterback and still be a success at the College level. Look at Jamarcus Russel, and "The Hefty Lefty" Jared Lorenzan!

One of the weights I have been following with interest since last season is Jazzmar Clax. Up til now he has been listed as 5'11" 250lb. This was in contrast to Reuben Frank 6'3" 239lb. I was hoping that with that higher weight and wider torso he could give us a little more "Sherman-like blocking" from the fullback position. Now the roster has Reuben as 255lb. and Jazzmar as 239lb. I still want to see what Jazz can give us on the field but at 255 Reuben would have put on 16 extra lbs. and might be OK as well. I don't really see Jazz as a linebacker due to his height, whereas Reuben if he was beaten out for fullback could potentially slide back to linebacker with his good size and weight and speed. We deperately need to shore up every aspect of the blocking relating to getting the running game on track and the fullbacks are one piece of that puzzle. Anyone have any insights here?

Those 2 guys were taller than CC. CC would most likely be running for his life as opposed to looking over his OL in a passing offense. I know Coach PP has called CC another Drew Brees but what are the chances of that happening at Uconn. we can always hope but a lighter, faster more agile CC is the way to go.

Am I the only one that thinks up to date weights are not that big of a deal? I just took a look at the Michigan roster and 5 QB's are all within 5 lbs of each other ... 201 to 206. Is that likely? I don't think it is incompetence on the part of P's staff ... nobody really provides accurate information anyway so why put in the effort?

I get what you're saying bro, but if you look at our history, that stuff from year to year was always updated. That's something I'm guilty of getting used to...don't think I'm the only one. We always recruited kids ( OL, DL in particular ) that, for the most part, needed a redshirt year to get their bodies 'right'.. To me, when you look at kids like Nwokeji and Hemingway, we still do... So, it's nice to see a kid like those two come back the following year or 2 at least 20 to 30 lbs heavier...on the flipside, if you look at RB McCombs, at 166lbs and no weight gain (if indeed that's true), and he's our #1 back, you get kinda concerned....

Good post......I really like Jazz's ability and I think we should see to it that he gets on the field for at least 20-30 snaps a game next year. I always thought his "LB" highlight tape from high school was amazing, he really laid the wood. But we are deep enough at LB that he wouldn't see a great deal of time there next year and it would be more beneficial for us to develop him at another position. It's interesting as some have stated that we may be looking at Jazz as more of a ball carrier, RB, a little thunder to LM's lightning if you will. Maybe that is the reason he has shed some pounds; to be a little more elusive. If not him, then somebody else needs to step up and be reliable enough to receive some carries. Heres looking at you J Will, Max, and Jazz. On another note, if the line isn't going to create holes again this year for the running game then it might be wise of us to give the rock to a big back who can churn out 3 to 4 yards after contact.

But how can you be so sure that the numbers you were used to seeing were accurate? We've already had a few posters on here who have contradicted listed weights.

You do make a good point about using this as a marketing tool for the program ...and maybe that is where the biggest value is.

Xavier Hemingway is at 6'4 277 now..........Take it for what its worth......But if it is truthful, It at least shows progress and closes the gap to what is needed to be acceptable...(It sucks but I feel like his is progress is still feeling the affects of that back surgery his freshman year)...He has another 5 months to add 10 more or so. He is a guy that I have been following intently because I think he holds very high value if he can mature into starter level talent by next year, especially being at a position of such dire need. Some others that might have changed. BB-S is @ 256 now, Shamar keeps growing up to 323, I feel like Willman dropped weight down to 267, same with donahue now at 236.....Yawin and Ashiru are adding weight up to 244 and 236 respectively. I think its always interesting to look at weight changes as it could indicate a potential position change or style of play change but also could be very much nothing at all. I have this problem with always choosing to believe it benefits the player, haha. If they lose weight they are so much faster and more athletic, if they gain weight they are strong like bull......

I guess somebody from uconn athletic dept website is paying attention to this board... It's definitely updated now... Still may not be precise but it's updated....

Yawin at 244. If accurate and he can keep his speed at 245-250 he will be one of the best LBs in the country next season.

Averaged out the heights and weights of the offensive line(15 of them. Didn't count the two smallish long snappers). Average is 6'4" 297lbs. Compared it to Alabama(19 players /6'4" 300lbs), Notre Dame(18 players /6'5" 296lbs) and Texas(17 players /6'4.5" 290.5 lbs). Those were 2012 rosters as none of them had a 2013 spring roster that I could find. But....it looks as if we're in the ballpark anyways as far as Coach P's prototypical O-line player. When I first averaged it out I thought to myself "gee that should be closer to 6'5" 300lbs", but as you can see size wise we're right there with the big boys.
