Well, it's Thursday and another big matchup for NC State. Tonight, we'll try to notch our first win ever over a pretty good Georgia team. That matchup in the middle, Stati vs. Cunane, should be one to watch. Guard play will be crucial in this one. NC State has been shooting the ball pretty well the last few games. We'll need more of that tonight. I'm still waiting for Cunane to have that breakout, monster game this season. While she's been a monster on the boards, I've been sort of disappointed in her scoring in the paint. She's missed a lot of shots she would have made in previous seasons. Of course, Coach Moore has been playing the reserves a lot to develop them and bring them along when NC State was ahead comfortably, which has limited Cunane's scoring opportunities, but I think we'll probably only see the key 9 (Cunane, Jones, Crutchfield, Perez, Brown-Turner, Johnson, Boyd, Hobby and Hayes) play most of the minutes tonight. I'd be very surprised if this was a runaway win for either team. One additional tidbit: Should NC State win tonight, it will be the first time since the 1980-1981 season that NC State will have defeated three ranked teams in its first 12 games. That year, NC State defeated #9 Cheyney State, #10 South Carolina and #8 Texas in its non-conference schedule. Since Wes Moore arrived, NC State is 26-35 against ranked teams.
