This evening's 6pm tip will be the final home game at the Rolle Activity Center for the NAU Lady Jacks. Hopefully coach Payne can motivate some defense against the hapless Cal Poly visitors.

Cal Poly vs. Northern Arizona - Game Preview - December 13, 2021 - ESPN

Beginning Friday the 17th NAU home games for the remainder of the season will be held at the Walkup Skydome. While not a particularly appropriate venue for basketball there is the ability should Wildcat fans travel up the I 17 to accommodate a larger crowd than the typical 200.

I thought about heading up, then going to Vegas for the Texas game. It's just so close to Christmas. Not sure I can swing the expense. Would be a great basketball road trip, though.

Wake Forest beat ETSU 90-58 earlier. Jewel Spears... a under the radar player in my opinion... dropped 40 pts on 10-17 from the 3pt line. Today was the Annual School Day Game... attendance usually is between 6-10,000 fans for the game... due in part to the on-going Covid issues... just 1,245 were in attendance today.

I hate to rain on your Hellman's parade but the "mighty Wake Forest" has the 205th ranked schedule of 356 D1 teams. Their 9-1 record is a fabrication of this-I don't even want to use the word "cupcake" as their schedule is an insult to cupcakes. Their one loss was to a decent Nebraska team by 26 points (yikes).

Their offense is ranked 72nd and their defense is currently ranked 44th, which given the lack of quality of their opponents probably means they are significantly worse-when the season is done, I suspect 80's.

Not sure I understand why Jen Hoover who should have leveraged her 1 NCAA appearance continues to play these types of team, Oh, wait, yes I do understand....

UNO cancels three games they had over the next week. Their last game they played was on December 1st. Going to be 4 weeks between their last game and their game against Grambling later this month.

Depaul runs by Nicholls, 100-72. The Lady Colonels fall to 0-8 on the season.
Thats a lot of points to give up to an 0-8 team. Nicholls had 35 turnovers but did shoot 45%

As @LETTERL can certainly attest, Nicholls is a rising offensive juggernaut that few can silence! It can start out a bit slow, but teams have a hard time stopping them in the fourth quarter. Against 7-1 Abilene Christian, Nicholls had only 5 in the first quarter but a whopping 45 points in the second half, finished 48% from the field.

Perhaps their defense and their ball security could use a tweak or two.

DePaul gave up 71 to Texas Southern which is 0-6. No one else has given up more than 55 to them. Their lowest scoring night was against Arizona where they lost 93-38 with the Wildcats' starters playing 17, 17, 14, 13, and 12 minutes of the game.

So what I'm gathering from this is that Iowa no longer plays the worst defense in the NCAA.

Cal Baptist pulled a game out, 74-73, with a full court press turning over UCSD 24 times, most in the 4th quarter.
Points off turnovers were 25 to 5.
They were lucky the press worked.

Olata led the way with 21pts, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists, and 3 steals.

I will take the win, but do not like the game plan today.

2 more road games, Saturday at Santa Clara(5-3) and Tuesday at Cal Poly(1-6)

UCF heads into its hardest two OOC games next. @Iowa then @Princeton. Not sure how the Knights haven't gotten a single vote in the AP poll at this point

Princeton edges Buffalo in overtime, 79-77.

I have no idea how Princeton hung on to win. Three of their best players fouled out. Their post player (Mitchell) fouled out with 5 minutes to play in regulation. Their best player (Meyers) fouled out on a disastrous effort to defend a 2-point lead with less than 2 seconds in regulation. Hemphill made both FTs and Buffalo appeared to have all the momentum.

Then early in overtime, Cunningham got picked and compounded her turnover by fouling out.

Fair was overall inefficient (11-30 fg) but scored at a high clip in 4Q and overtime. Princeton's Caitlyn Chen came up huge in picking up the scoring burden in OT after 3 of her fellow starters had fouled out.

Buffalo had quietly put together a solid OOC resume: a win over Syracuse (who has since routed Ohio State), with their only losses to SC and Oklahoma, till tonight.

Princeton has lost to Fordham, Rhode Island and Seton Hall, but the wins over FGCU and Buffalo look pretty good. Carla's squad has big tests coming up against Texas and UCF.

Not sure how to interpret your comments as you may or may not have to incur my wrath- if you are saying losing to those teams is not good, let me remind you that Fordham is having a great year thus far (my wife’s graduate school), Rhody’s coach was being touted by you as the heir apparent to Virginia and URI is also having a good year having also lost to Buffalo. Third, Seton Hall which is also my wife’s undergraduate Alma mater, has talent but has been inconsistent thus far.
Be careful how you tread…;).

SHould be a good atmosphere.. Plenty of chickens already in the crowd. They were doing their chant while we waited for the doors to open.

Scalia of Minnesota went off for 37 points as she channeled her inner Rachel Banham in falling just shy of the Gopher record for most 3 pointers in a single game. Rachel Banham holds that record with 10, and Scalia had just nine. Since falling short seems to be a theme, Powell fell just 1 assist shy of getting a triple double against mighty Ohio who did indeed put a scare into Minnesota closing to 93-91 under 1 minute to go -- but couldn't quite make the magic happen.
