I count on a certain mercurial panda from North Carolina, as our official Big South correspondent, to fill in all the relevant details and commentary :)

Gamecocks were set to play Ole Miss, Gators were to play Vandy. Game is on SECN+. Opens up February 25 as an open date, the day this game was originally scheduled to be played.

The Tarheels and the Dirty Birds will play Friday now.
The Dirty Birds? Not familiar with this moniker.

Game of the week IMO. Will be entertaining but for the wrong reasons.
Many SEC folks on this board like to discuss "contenders" as if the race for 1st place were in question or even interesting.

The only compelling contest, however, is the competition for biggest SEC dumpster fire among LSU, Auburn and Vandy. (I believe Florida and Ole Miss are probably not in the running this year.)

I believe its SC to lose IMO. I seriously think Miss St is capable of winning but I am not sold on McCray yet. Until proven otherwise I have to side with Dawn. Arkansas, Kentucky and A&M all are very solid teams as well but not SEC Champion material. Quite frankly, Kentucky could be so much more but they don't have the coaching to compliment their talent.

LSU has been smoked all the decent teams they have played so far. We lucked out. against a very bad LMU team and limped our way to a victory against ULL. I think we are easily the worst offensive team in the SEC. Auburn is really bad as well but I think it comes down to how much they turn the ball over on the day the game is played. Vandy is poorly coached team. They lost to Ark Little Rock but IMO, they have always had solid teams and well coached group, its not a good loss but definitely could be way worse. LSU plays A&M and SC twice each this year so that does not bode well for us.

Florida has more depth this year getting Rainey back and adding J. Merrit. I don't think they are great but they continue to move up the ladder. I think Ole Miss is the most dramatically improved team in the SEC this year despite their awful schedule. Adding Scott and Austin dramatically improved that team, their depth across the board is much better than anything they have had the last few years. Their transfers are giving them good minutes as well. I still think Ole Miss is still bottom tier but not the worst this year. They are moving in the right direction if they can continue to bring in talent to Oxford and avoid the attrition.

Umm, if I may ask my SEC dedicated but downtrodden colleague @SECbbfan24 why they think MSU is a contender as what I saw in 2 of their games was a team unable to shoot and score and while I like Jackson and heck, even Carter has looked good, their guards are awful. I know their "defense" is touted but you still have to get assists and occassional score against good teams and MSU is lacking there. I think if anyone gives SC a run for the Title it's Arkansas and then maybe the Aggies or Kentucky...:)

Seems a bit unfair to say they aren't good because of one game. USF is a very good team and even played Baylor well (who I think will be very strong by the end of the year).

MSU finished 2nd in the conference last year with a team led by freshmen and sophomores (although we can't discount what Danberry meant for them as well). Rickea, Matharu, Carter, Cooks is a strong core. The issue is Vic isn't leading the team this year and McCray is still questionable as a coach. Its not unreasonable to think they can't be competitive. I just question if the coaching can get them there. I don't think they have a talent issue. MSU was predicted at 5 because losing Vic was a major loss and a lot was unknown about McCray. They would have been predicted top 3 if he had stayed.

Kentucky I said earlier before the season is a dark horse but I was not sold on their coaching. while they have the talent (Howard, Edwards, Benton, Patterson, Owens, Massengil, Green), I don't believe they are well coached enough to win the SEC. I think they. could pull off some upsets and be a dangerous team in the NCAAT when they are clicking.

Thats pretty shocking, LMU isn't very good, they have gotten smoked by USC, UNLV, and Grand Cannon.

Must be ice cold from the field.

LMU literally couldn't stop turning it over verses LSU. They aren't very good at breaking the press. They turned it over I think like 26 times, would have been way more if we pressed in the first half.

The zags hang on and win by 3. Good effort by LMU to make that one a game.

So, what does it say about South Carolina that Gonzaga played them close? That they miss Harris and Herbert-Harringan more than we thought?

Definitely an interesting result, too close for comfort for the Zags.

Friday's re-scheduled game between Louisville and UNC has been postponed again, this time because of travel issues with UNC.

Will Louisville EVER play another game?

Yikes, the LV just played Lipscomb last night so that means Lipscomb had to be in lockdown and that contract tracing better be occurring to source the families from the Christmas...Not sure how others feel but I am ready for this pandemic to subside...

Upon further research, apparently it's not just the week that's canceled:

?
Presumably, conferences will reach tipping points if more than one or two teams in a conference decide to bail on the season, and I'd imagine insofar as all the COVID protocols are costing ADs even more money than a normal season costs (and with lower revenues), there may also be internal pressure that we aren't hearing about to close down for the season, too.
