I'm not much for eye tests, 'cause I'm not sure what people are looking at. Before the SC game, it wasn't entirely clear to me why Stanford wasn't a 3 rather than a 2. But who should have been at #2? Well, the only candidate was UConn, and with all the injuries, there were just too many question marks to speak decisively for them until these last 2 games. But Stanford proved themselves to be a contender on the same day that we did. Sigh. But now, I think we can see pretty clearly that you couldn't slip a 'hare' (note Bugs Bunny reference) between #2 and #3. Now for the eye test. Where's Stanford's obvious advantage? -- In the front court, I think. Brink, Iriafen, Belibi and Prechdel is a considerable bench, and we don't matchup well with Brink. As for Jones, I think Aubrey could be an interesting matchup for her, but can we do that for an entire game? We'll need her to help out in the post. Advantage Cardinal -- In the backcourt, Jump is a proven perimeter shooter, and Lepolo had a really good game (mostly), but I think there's really no comparison to our backcourt even injured. When Caroline returns to full strength, I think they don't have enough answers for Azzi Nika Lou Caroline. Advantage Huskies -- Playing style, ours is a high energy running defense. But we'll have no speed advantage over them. Our defense may be a little better in the backcourt, but it's probably not quite as good in the front court. This seems like a draw to me. I can't wait to see this game, if it comes this season.
