Portland at #2 Stanford (10p, P12N)
That might be a work out your frustrations kind of game. UP has a really nice Australian player Alex Fowler (jeez half their team is from Australia looking at their roster, but she stands out in particular).

Cal Baptist's best inside threat, Britney Thomas, was not dressed for the teams first game. Without her, it will be extremely difficult vs OSU. If she is back it changes the game plan.

How many of Portland's current players played key roles on the team that upset Gonzaga and won the WCC tournament in 2020?

They really didn't carry over that success to the following year.

Fowler and Andrews are the only two I'm certain about. Yeah, they were a big disappoint last year to me.

NC State shot 56%, including 10 of 20 from THREE, and 11 Wolfpack Women hit the scoring column, in a 100-52 win over previously-undefeated Towson in the preseason WNIT. Diamond Johnson tallied 16 points...and transfer Madison Hayes pulled in 12 rebounds.

Noteworthy is that freshman center Sophie Hart, Elissa Cunane's heir apparent, hit the first basket of her NC State career against Towson. She finished with 4 points on the night.

This game could have been different but leading scorer for Towson Aleah Nelson went down with a knee injury midway through the 1st quarter. She did return to the game and did reach 17 points but Towson was overwhelmed without her.

Ugh...Flohoops. I cannot stand when we have games being shown on Flohoops. It's way too expensive for their subpar service....and I'll have to remember to turn off the subscription service before they charge me for another month.

Rutgers loses a home game today to Stoney Brook 53-44:eek:
Both teams were 3-0 coming into the game.

Tim Eatman needs to go now. He has no idea what he’s doing. It’s not like there’s no talent on this team, it’s his coaching. This is going to be a long season.

I'm surprised we haven't heard from @triaddukefan about this barn-burner in his neck of the woods. The Catamounts take down the Blue Hose.

I saw that they were playing earlier, then went out to the grocery store and to get some lunch..... didn't check back on the game. Thanks for posting.... like I said last season..... if you want some barn burner action... watch some Big South basketball.

Looks like a great weekend of hoops.

Looking forward to the Battle of Atlantis.

Baylor vs. Maryland is a good offense vs. defense matchup.
Tennessee and Texas is also on my watch list.

I think the sentiment would be Maryland will tear them apart, but a very interesting game to see where Baylor is.

I do not love Tennessee's chances unless they're getting Rae back.

As I just had to upgrade to the Sling Orange & Blue package, I now get the BigTen network and will be watching my very first set of BigTen games tonight! I can see how the Wolverines, Terps and Hoosiers all look. Though technically, I watched the Indiana-Kentucky game on ESPN on Sunday.

Per Green post game comments last night.
On what she believes the team dynamic is…
"Man, I was just talking about this in the locker room. I am just so excited, like we have so much potential with this team. This team is just so happy for one another, for each other's successes. It's not any one person that has to do everything. We're happy no matter where it comes from, because we know we're a team, and at the end of the day, a win is a win for all of us. I think our identity going forward is just we're tough, we're gritty, and we're going to come together when it counts. I mean, I can't even wait for you guys to see what we're about to do this season."

Nice to see the enthusiasm from the kids after a win. Especially since the team has gone through a rough patch the past few years.

I would agree more if Mulkey was still at the helm - this is not the same Baylor (for obvious reasons) but especially on the defensive end of things. I think Marylands guards will eat up the Baylor backcourt (especially if Miller is healthy), due to their size and strength. Unless Baylor can connect on their 3s at a good clip, I see a comfortable Maryland win. As much as I love Smith's game, I don't think her and Egbo are enough to come away with the victory in College Park.

I also think Texas' pressure will be too much for Tennessee, especially if Burrell is still out.

This Stanford game is crazy. Portland is hanging in there in Palo Alto while shooting 60%! Problem is they have 25 turnovers to 29 FG attempts.

Haley stepped up into the leadership role with a triple double.

I see that ND gets its own thread, so does SC, MD, TN ..... maybe its time for a Duke/HPU/NCA&T/UNC-G/WCU/PU thread

I know we touched on it in another thread, but I went back and looked at exactly who Rutgers lost and who they have now.

Rutgers last year had only 6 players who averaged double-digit minutes, and I believe only the lowest-scoring of those 6 players is back (Tyia Singleton). Gone are Arella Guirantes (21.3 ppg, All-Big Ten first team), Diamond Johnson (17.9 ppg, All-Big Ten second team) and Tekia Mack (10.9 ppg, All-Big Ten defensive team), as well as Gilles and Broughton.

Do you really think the returning and new players offset all they lost? I don't. They did get some decent transfers like Petree (MVC POY), V. Morris (CAA 2nd team) and Dickson, but even in ideal conditions it's never easy to just throw new players together and get an immediately good outcome. (Is Dickson injured? Doesn't look like she's played yet.)

I didn’t say they offset what we lost. We lost a lot. However, the talent we returned and the talent we got from the portal should be able to not look like an elementary school team even if they’re new to playing together.

Dickson, I’ve not heard anything about. But it would be just another player thrown in and out of the game with no change to get a rhythm.

Very frustrating, and I would be surprised if some or if not all of our sophomore class transfers out with this crap show.
