We are in week 10 of college football.

I'll go out way out on a limb and suggest the doom and gloom in August of college football being shutdown and the season ending prematurely was wrong. That is not a comment WRT UConn's decision, but rather that the rationalizations and risk perspective by many, including many on this board, were incorrect.

SMU is back, someone needs to hire Hugh Freeze away from the Fightin Falwells, and USC pulled off an epic come from behind win, 2 4th and longs leading to 2 TDs that secured the lead and win. Oh, and UMass can score TDs against ranked teans.

Liberty has themselves a good football team. There in a perfect location to recruit under recruited players and to pick up players in the transfer portal been over recruited by power five conference teams. It’s good to see SMU playing good football. They’re in a wonderful recruiting area and can also pick up power five transfers.

That’s all true but it’s all about getting the right coach, one who’s able to develop a plan and capitalize on it. Hugh Freeze should be Coach of the Year.

The Florida Georgia game was fun to watch especially in the first half. Hard to believe that Trask didn’t start a game in high school after freshman year. He played behind D”Eriq King of Houston and now Miami

My Mustangs are 8-1 baby!!! Cinci was better than us on that, but would love to get another shot at them in the AAC title game. Tulsa is good and next up if they can stay Covid free.

It will be interesting to see if a big program will be willing to look past the buying hookers (for himself) on recruiting visits thing.

Cincy might sneak into a 4 spot if they can run the table. Interesting to see if Clemson falls out the top 4 if ND pulls a W. if Clemson wins, you’ve got to think Cincy moves up 2 spots.

what’s interesting is that Temple has a losing record at 1-4.

Sports are cyclical-i wonder if they will have a few bad years here after really performing at such a high level for 8+ years

It's as if the death penalty never happened at SMU now. That penalty was an injustice compared to what happens to other public schools who transgress in much worse ways.

Haven't we yet to win a game against SMU in football?

I would have to assume more Notre Dame fans now, especially the younger ones, would see more upside in being a full member of the ACC after this game vs Clemson.

Notre Dame is definitely going to join the ACC as a full member one day now....

25th ranked Liberty went to Blacksburg, VA (a 16 point underdog, I believe) and beat Virginia Tech 38-35 today (Saturday). They are 7-0 with a road win at Syracuse as well. The schedule might not be as tough as it might be, but considering they had to re-make their independent FBS schedule into an eleven game slate, it's not too shabby. Road games left at NC State and Coastal Carolina (#15 at 6-0).

We might be looking at a Notre Dame vs Clemson ACC championship game, unless one loses to another opponent. Notre Dame has a game at UNC.

There’s about to be some positive tests on both those teams.

Clemson coach lost game by turtling on next to last possession in regulation and not giving his team a chance at a game clinching 1st down and then taking a knee with 16 seconds (sound like anyone we know?). Also calling a play on 3rd down where back catches ball and runs out of bounds and stops clock saved ND a time out.
He didn't look stellar coaching against BCU either.

There is zero upside for ND to join a conference. The Clemson game was actually one of the few that were played on their originality scheduled dates . So saying that this game is going to change things is pathetic even for you. Also I’d be willing to bet if ND lost their minds and joined a conference it would be the Big Ten

It's self evident that easiest path to the playoffs are through conferences, as of now. Swarbick even wants to join the ACC for football. I am sure you know more than him

Notre Dame joining the ACC actually makes more sense from a marketing POV than the Big Ten, which is why they are in the ACC in the first place. And in the Big Ten for hockey only. They'd want to recruit students along the east coast, not the midwest.

So ND needs to recruit students from a specific area? Really? Look I get that you are obsessed with getting UConn in a P5 conference but the bottom line is if a P5 conference actually wanted them they would be in one and there is zero incentive for any of the current P5 conferences to expand in the foreseeable future as there would be no financial gain
