next year.......maybe. Looks like 4 is most we can hope for this year, Tulane being the fourth.

A lot of folks on this board say we just don't have enough talent on the field to win more games than we lose. If that's true then next year won't be much different than this year because you can't coach talent.

If the problem is primarily the youth and inexperience of the players (and coaches too) then maybe next year is considerably better than this year, maybe 6 wins and a bowl game.

I hope the problems are primarily related to youth and inexperience but I am concerned because if that were the case we would have seen improvement between games 1 and 8 and I don't see it. No question the team is better than last year but the offense has plateaued and the defense is regressing.

Anyone thinking 6 wins next year is acceptable should just give up. Next year should be about competing for the division, which doesn't necessarily mean winning it. Last year's team beat one good FB team. This year's team has yet to meet that bar. I refuse to call not losing to terrible teams an improvement worth celebrating. We are better than that. Beat Tulane, beat ECU and make threats to become bowl eligible and we can talk about improvement that is worth something.

With Shirreffs as the QB? No way.

No game remaining is a given, not even Tulane. ECU might be licking their chops after yesterday's crapfest.

4-5 wins max is what most expected at season's start, and that looks to be the realistic ceiling now.

I lambasted them in another thread, but I have to realize that we only lose about a dozen guys. We are playing Freshman Wide outs. QB no game experience. Best RB is Soph.

We can win 2 more games this year. Friday is big at Home. Let's see how we respond.

Play hard and stay injury free. The wins will come as the roster turns over with upgrades at every position.

The wins will come quicker when the coaching staff learns time management, makes in game adjustments (the next time they do will be the first time), and varies up the defensive schemes. We can crow about lack of talent all we want, but the in game coaching is an unmitigated disaster.

I said in an earlier thread, I have seen flashes from every unit, except the offensive line, that have made me optimistic regarding the talent on this team. I absolutely cannot say that I have any optimism regarding the in game coaching of this staff.

These are my thoughts as well. If we can keep progressing year after year, this team has a lot of potential down the road. A senior Shirreffs, Newsome, Bloom, and Meyers with JR Mayala & Beals as a foundation could potentially be very good two years from now.

Looks like regression across the board. Diaco needs to turn game day management over to Coach Patterson because Diaco is clueless on game day. The defensive strategies the last 3 weeks look like more of the same.

I predicted 4 wins in the prediction thread before season start and after the first 8 games, this team should be at 5 & 3. Players play and coaches coach. The biggest disappointment is game day management that with a seven figure salary, should have been mastered already. Time to take the training wheels off Bobby... you are being outcoached every week.

I think the way we started the year, even if Missouri has turned out to be incredibly overrated, we (including myself) started dreaming about bowls. Now that these last few losses have smacked us all in the face back to reality, we can concentrate on getting to the 4-5 win threshold that, I think, most of us would have been happy with reaching back in August. If we can beat either ECU or Tulane, I will be content with finishing the year with 4 wins...and my expectation for next year will come with a 6-7 win floor.

The win number, for me is important but not more important than the progress on the field and the trajectory being a positive one as the season progresses. We've lost that in the last 2 games especially in terms of what I felt the coaches should be doing to make us more competitive and get the most out of our players. Aside from some of the controversial decisions and time management on offense, the passive nature of our defense is going to frustrate the players and kill our confidence. Our defensive personnel is solid imo and now they're looking tentative and vulnerable. Actually they looked that way back to BYU but the Cougs tried to hand us that game while puting up close to 550 yards. I wish things weren't as bad as they look but they may be worse. 612 Total yards this week is a disaster.

After last nights game Shirreffs is ranked 38th in passing yards per game by the NCAA and 50th in passing efficiency. He's a sophomore playing with very young and inexperienced receiving corps and head coach. His offensive line is slowly growing (or maybe not!).

Last night may have been a step back for him but he took too many hits on that first drive and played in a monsoon. Cut him a break!

Shirreffs is the least of this teams problems. I think the sane posters realize that he can be a solid qb.

Wow, just wow! What a bunch of "entitled" brats. This is only the 2nd year of this coaching regime. This team required a complete tear down & rebuild in culture, strength & conditioning, coaching philosophy, etc. There are signs that this team is turning the corner. It's been competitive in every game played. Stop the whining. Positive results will come. We've seen an uptick in recruiting. Have faith.

Agreed 1000000%... It's easy to get caught up in games at the moment and make rush judgements, because you can actually see how improved we are during a game... Fact is we still have more to do, and it's still on year 2 of the process...

Time for a little confidence builder from Confident Carl. I know things look sketchy but don't lose faith.

I agree Cap. These guys are just starting to learn how to ride the bike. Way too early to bail. Folks need to remember that in 2013, Temple was 2-10 and lost to UCONN 28-21. Memphis was 3-9 and lost to UCONN 45-10. UCF was 12-1 and ranked 10th in the country and they are winless. The team is in process and I believe will have a great season in 2016. Hoping for 5-7 this year which is about right. We played ECU tough away last year. They were better last year and UCONN is better this year. We will pay Tulane back for last years loss. Not confident about Houston or Temple. But 5-7 would show the team has improved.

Here is a Confident Carl Kind of Guy. CCKG!

Boy, I am on the fence. After UCF, I thought we were turning things around - unfortunately, I was right and the last 2 games have been a complete 360. I like the young kids and I really do think BD can be really good here, but it is time to stop with the everything was broken here. Other programs can rebound better than 5-15. Heck, w/o the ConFLiCT, we're 3-15. I want BD to just stop with the excuses and start expecting more of kids who are suiting up on Saturdays. I could walk away from the Mizzou and BYU losses and see real progress. But USF was a kick in the gut I still have not recovered from and Cincy, well, what can you say about that effort. 5 wins? We're better than that. <6 wins is kissing your sister, and up north that's plain less acceptable than allowing Jesus in the huddle.

He won't zip that Crap until Boyle takes over. So never.

You mean a 180, right? If you're having a tough time lay off the whine and have a little whiskey!;)

Huh? No wonder the team blows

I can't begin to express how hard it is, in less than 200 posts, to make people wonder if you are actually dumber than any other regular poster here. Myself, I would have thought it impossible.

Congratulationsl
