We would need several things to fall our way, including Seton Hall losing to DePaul, but we still could get the bye actually. Not very likely though.

Regarding whether it would be better to not get the bye, the answer has to be no. Beating DePaul or Providence on Tuesday would not help our resume. A loss, which is obviously possible, would absolutely kill our resume. It's pretty much a no-win game.

no we need to not get a bye and get a win against depaul or providence. We need to get to 19 wins to feel good about making the tournament. Idc what lunardi says no way with 17 wins we get in the tournament

doesn't look like alot but that win does help. were what 3-7 in our last 10? maybe worse. so racking up a extra win could get us to a 5-5 type # that would look better trending wise on our resume. plus playing as the 9 gives us the chance to beat a higher seed in the 2nd round right? not to mention some momentum.

Pitt looked good against St.John's and their coach has them believing they can win 4 and get in so I would play Pitt as if it was a single elimination game.

Obviously you're talking about the NCAA tournament, since you said "Put us out west with Duke/Kentucky as the 1 seed".. but I think Dan's point was that this entire thread is a discussion about the BE tournament. Hence why your post made zero sense in the context of this thread. Gotta win a couple more games and get through the conference tournaments before we start thinking about the big dance.

It's the main reason the tourney is the way it is. It's to get the bubble teams a chance to get two wins and thus more Big East bids. Of all the dumb things the league has done it's on of the smarter ones. You might also add the fact that we started to not schedule the weakest of the week that we even have shot at a bid. 5 years ago Calhoun's schedule would not even have us near the discussion because our SOS would be in the 60-100 range or lower. Playing teams like the Harvard's instead of Hoftsra's has done wonders
