Breakups are tough. Breaking up with a family member is tougher. As incestous as that sounds, mutually separating in a respectful way with K.O where he's still forever embraced by the university and fans for his contributions/passion for the program is the way to go.
The last few seasons obviously didn't unfold the way anyone involved wanted for a multitude of reasons and the nature for change is in place. There's going to be a bit of a cooldown period between K.O, Uconn, and the fans once the coaching divorce takes place (there shouldn't be)... but once the dust settles, everyone needs to get their head out of their ass and eventually welcome K.O back to the Uconn family with open arms as an alum/player/fan/Championship Coach.
Hopefully this acknowledgement and respect happens sooner... but when the 2014 Championship anniversary takes place in 6 years... the introduction for K.O and the following raucous standing ovation better have seismic impact that makes Gampel's old doo-doo ridden structure collapse.
