Dangerfield scores 19 to lead UConn over Baylor
Freshman Crystal Dangerfield scored 19 points, Katie Lou Samuelson added 16 and No. 3 UConn extended its winning streak to 77 games with a 72-61 victory over second-ranked Baylor on Thursday nigh

That was a heckuva play where KLS faked a pass to Crystal Dangerfield and Crystal Dangerfield slipped by her defender to drain the two.

And B. Mompremier was so frustrated, fouled out by adding one technical foul

STORRS, Conn. -- Freshman Crystal Dangerfield scored 19 points, Katie Lou Samuelson added 16 and No. 3 UConn extended its winning streak to 77 games with a 72-61 victory over second-ranked Baylor on Thursday night.

The streak is the second longest in women's college basketball history, standing 13 short of the school record set by the Huskies from 2008-10. With stars Breanna Stewart, Morgan Tuck and Moriah Jefferson gone to the WNBA, Geno Auriemma's team was expected to need a bit of time to grow.

So far they have already knocked off No. 12 Florida State and now Baylor.

With the game tied at 54 early in the fourth quarter, UConn took over. The Huskies scored 16 of the next 18 points to put the game away. Dangerfield, a diminutive guard, made a spectacular layup with 4:03 left that brought the near sellout crowd to its feet and made it 62-56. Baylor (2-1) couldn't recover.

Unlike during the 75 games leading into this season where the Huskies (2-0) won every game by double digits and most were decided by halftime, this season's squad has had to pull out its first two wins in the final quarter.

We've seen some freshman moments. Bria had hers against Baylor in November 2010. KML had hers against Stanford a year later. Moriah had that incredible block in a Baylor game UConn lost, but that flash said it all. KLS and Collier had great moments last year, but both seemed poised to take sophomore leaps this season,

This is a great night for UConn: 77 games in row, three total 70+ game streaks when no other program has really come all that close to 60. That 12-point win keeps UConn on pace with its 2013-14 record of "highest lowest" single-game margin of victory...against Baylor in Waco by 11 in 2014! Of course, the FSU game ruined it for us, but I don't care :)

I'm not saying we're all the way back. I'm just saying it was a good night for all of us.

Goodnight, everyone!

Former teammates to square off in UConn/Baylor game

There are no lack of story angles for tomorrow's UConn/Baylor game.

The obvious one is an undersized UConn team facing a Baylor squad with six players standing 6-foot-2 or taller highlighted by 6-7 Kalani Brown.

Future UConn teammates Mikayla Coombs, Lexi Gordon and Megan Walker are among 50 players named to the watch list for the Naismith girls' national player of the year award.

UConn recruiting targets Samantha Brunelle, Charli Collier and Christyn Williams are also on the list.
