I wonder how much better it would have been if Omar had contributed. Solid defensively despite State's advantage on the boards. And Shabazz and Ryan have backbone of steel. This is, given the circumstances(and I've put all that crap in the rearview mirror despite ESPN,unavoidably, rehashing most of it), is one of the biggest for the program. I thought Kevin's comments about "team" and, especially, "loyalty" to the program(take that Alex and Roscoe!!) in the postgame interview were fantastic. WE ARE UCONN!!!!!

Bigger question is does this team win if Calhoun was coaching tonight? DD would have gotten the hook multiple time for sure. Note that's not a knock against Coach Calhoun. His coaching methods were more about March than November. Although he almost always had his team ready for big early season non-conference games.

Couple of charactor moments... one was when Katz asked the idiotic Manual questions and KO immediately said it's about "these guys". Another was toward the end of the game when Shabazz was arguing a call and Ollie called him off and told him to play defense. Wow, what a win especially with this personnel.

Susan Herbst, WM, JC were all at the game. Shows how important the basketball program is to the university and state. With the practice facility getting built, think our basketball program is in solid shape no matter what conference we are in.
