I said this in another thread. We have played good defensive teams. Our 6 opponents have a 3 pt % defense of 31.9%, and an overall FG% defense of 39.4%. We have faced the 3rd and 19th best FG% defenses this year.

I think Providence looks like a better shooting team than UConn, but Providence has played against some of the worst 3 pt % defenses: 91, 229, 303, 311, 316, and 317. Teams make 37.5% of 3s vs Providence's opponents and 43.1% of overall FGs.

We have had plenty of open looks that we didn't make and plenty of very bad threes both of those had nothing to do with defense. We don't have shooters plain and simple.

We do need to improve our 3 point shooting and I think we will. Providence is ranked the #27 3pt %FG defense at 27.8% which is pretty good.

Here is how we shot against the overall FG% defenses:

Colgate: #161, 37.7%
Stony Brook: #292, 51.0%
Boston U: #134, 46.3%
Oregon: #20, 37.9%
Michigan St: #2, 35.1%
Arkansas: #158: 37.7%

In my mind, the Arkansas game was a WTF loss, but we beat a very good defensive team in Oregon and lost to a great defensive team in Michigan St.

LOL - but Syracuse has only launched 103 in 6 games.

We've launched 131 in 6 games, or about 23% more 3s attempted than Syracuse each game.

Both teams suck from 3 so far, but we're chucking more ...

I have a concern that KO doesn’t fully appreciate how important good shooting is to achieve wins. I heard an interview, since the Arkansas disaster, where he talks about if you are UConn tough you can win shooting 35%. Sorry, shooting 35% is not part of a consistent winning formula.
Shooting is a very important part of the game, KO needs to both better incorporate it into his recruiting and also use an offensive scheme where you get better shots.
