WBB History: Lusia Harris

Great article; thanks for sharing.

Lusia ("Lucy") Harris is definitely a name that should be far more known than it is.

But at 21 years old, Harris was the first player to score in Olympic women’s basketball history. The Mississippi native led the team to a silver medal, averaging 15.2 points on 63 percent shooting, to go with seven rebounds per game.

Here's a short and sweet feature about her (linked from the article).

I just happened upon this video on YouTube. Great interview with Harris and lots of vintage footage of her Delta State days, as well as her historic first bucket at the Montreal Olympics.
